The 2552 military campaign is both amusing and distressing from a human standpoint. One on hand, you have an overzealous warmonger - Truth. He's historically been very hawkish (he supported the invasion of Harvest; he supported buckling down on fleet-building at the Unyielding Hierophant; he designed the glassing of Reach; he supports continued brute action in New Mombasa), and he shows little regard for individual liberty. On the other hand, you have an unprincipled wild card, liable to take any side on any new Halo. That's 'Vadamee. For everything he kills that's a brute, he kills another one that's a human. 'Vadamee's foreign policy is damn good for a new-age Sanghelli. Excluding his stance on the flood, he's basically a non-interventionist. However, he gets glassing wrong. Very wrong. Conservative glassing is only good for getting planets taken back - no true strategic benefits come of it. 'Moramee made a mistake when he tried to protect the Covenant occupation of Harvest, and now we're seeing 'Vadamee double-down on the same blunder. It's this year's campaign's bleak future that has shed some much-needed light on Avery Johnson. Avery Johnson is the human sargent major. I've linked to his wiki page, where it explains his many badass feats. Take a look and see where you agree and disagree. Here are some other cool facts about Johnson. -He's seen two of the seven Halo rings (returning home from installation 4 after coming in contact with a flood infection form) -He's an avid first person shooter - he was made by the makers of marathon -He mentored a young Sargent in the early days of war. That young man went on to help take down the corrupt Project Freelancer. -He was involved in a plasma accident. He survived a crate of grenades exploding next to him. -Due to the injuries in the plasma grenade accident, he is immune to flood infection. (At least that's the official story.) Johnson also has 7 Principles of Good Ass Kicking (his book goes into depth about them). He carries them in his head. 1) "I don't care if it's God's own anti-son-of-a-bitch machine or a giant hula hoop, but we are not gonna let em have it. What we will let em have is a belly full of lead and a pool of their own blood to drown in." 2) "Hit it, Marines—go, go, go! The Corps ain't payin' us by the hour!" 3) "Folks need heroes chief, to give 'em hope, so smile would ya, while we still got something to smile about!" 4) "When I joined the Corps, we didn't have any fancy-schmancy tanks. We had sticks! Two sticks, and a rock for the whole platoon—and we had to share the rock! Buck up, boy, you are one very lucky marine!" 5) "Listen, you don't like me, and I sure as hell don't like you. But if we don't do something, Mr. Mohawk's gonna activate this ring, and we're all gonna die." 6) "Crazy fool! Why do you always jump? One of these days, you're gonna land on somethin' as stubborn as you are! And I don't do bits and pieces!" 7) "Come on, you dumb apes! If you want breakfast, you gotta catch it!" These aren't necessarily exclusive to humans. These are strong principles for any individual, regardless of whether or not they're kicking ass. We need to get this man over the fence.
