Remember to bump to keep the thread alive. Here we are again folks it's pre-expansion speculation time. Will everything you've acquired be rendered obsolete? Will that fatebringer get dusted off? Who knows, anything is possible. This time it's Rise of Iron and with every expansion there's a bunch of questions we need to answer: 1. How are exotics going to come forward? Hopefully they actually learned from dark below but you never know you may have to buy that last word a third (fourth? Lost count) time. 2. Will old content come forward in light level? Will we finally have more than one raid to choose from for endgame content or are we still going to have the same set of three things to do and everything else hands out weak garbage. If so expect the expansion to last a couple of weeks then get stale. Yet again 3. Will old gear come forward? Whether this is "year one gear but with the new Rise of Iron perk pool" that we have to re rng or simple house of wolves style ascending? Or will ROI replace the entire weapon and armor pool yet again with weapons and armor that all do the same things but look different? Boiled down: Will Rise of Iron make destiny a complete experience or will Rise of Iron continue to keep the same amount of content that we currently have and make everything else arbitrarily weaker?

    one more serious question : did Bungie make clear to potential buyers of TTK whether they will be forced to buy the Rise of Iron in September in order to avoid meeting a situation where most of activities , currency will be locked unless they pay extra 30$ for the expansion?

  • I doubt we'll have another TTK in terns of leaving things behind. I'm sure we'll have a new level cap to infuse to, but that's as far as it will go.

  • Why would ttk be moved forward? They didn't move year 1 stuff forward, not sure why this would be different?

    • The infusion system made it way too easy to get to max light and made the game alot shorter. I would like the raid to drop max light based on rng like in year one with rng and of course trials, IB and nf. Also I think everyone exotic should be max light. Since exotics are suppose to be better than legendary weapons but it's not the case anymore.

      • If they pull a double standard and let TTK gear move forward while leaving VoG behind that will be enough to make my descision of whether or not to buy it. ( I wont get it) At the very least they need to stay consistent. Either they allow EVERYTHING to move forward or nothing.

        • After watching the new "Snapchat trailer" that has been going around, I think TTK gear will be infusable. Why? -Look in the trailer, specifically the bit where it says "Raid". During this small peice, you can see a Warlock wearing the Taken gear. -Year 1 stuff was Uninfusable because if it was, it would be the only thing used. Now, there is a much... heavier variation. And by that I mean all weapons are slightly over average at best, so we should be able to infuse them. But, yeah. That's just my thought.

            • Seriously has no one here played any sort of mmo/arpg style game before??? Every new mod or whatever will give you new armor and guns or weapons you need to grind out the content to get. Else you get hosed in crucible against others who put in the work and have the new gear. How they manage to make it enjoyable is a different issue. But these complaints about my old weapon is not gonna be as good as the new weapons is just plain dumb. And why does each mod make me have to do something to stay current? Really? You console players are whiners. Hope its cause you're mostly children(meaning whiny millenial turds who like participation medals) living with mommy still. Maybe bungie can set it up where your new gear is mailed to the droid at the tower for you when new dlc launches. And at whatever new light level. That way everyone will be happy.

              • Bungie has done a new upgrade path for every dlc. Why expect anything diff this time? Of course the old stuff will become obsolete.

                • I think infusion will still be a thing. I think the next full game is too far out to change things on us. I know they've done it in the past, but since the April update I can see many indicators that the staff is looking at what makes people happy and attempting to implement those types of changes.

                • Week before iron hits, everything will be nerfed to attack/defense level 150. New max light will be 345. Ghorn, icebreaker, thorn and mythoclast all get 2 more nerfs. Blanket nerf to all fusion rifles. Love, Bungie

                  • I think the fact that they just brought some of the year one weapons back let's us know that they will move forward with us. Let's face it, there is still players who haven't obtained their beloved longbow or Lord High Fixer yet. They won't make obsolete what they just brought forward.

                    It will probably be infusable. The only reason they left most year one weapons behind is because they were insanely over powered to the point no other weapons were even necessary. Not only that, but because of re-rolling, everyone had God rolls of their favorite weapons

                  • I would say Bungie can't possibly be stupid enough to make X decision then they go and do it anyway so I'll say all current Y2 content nerfed and capped down to 200 light and new light level of Y3 gear is 365.

                    • I think they'll bring it forward. Ttk is their baby for some reason and year 2 didn't have anywhere near the amount of viable content as year 1. Also it looks like rise of iron won't be as big as ttk so that would mean even less content until the end game than we had in ttk. Hopefully they pull all ttk forward along with some year one stuff

                      • Hopefully, it does. We need to continue to move forward in terms of gear, and weapons. Yeah, I'm all for keeping old classics like Shadow Price and what not, but if the game is to stick around for 10 years like Bungie wants, we're going to all have to say goodbye at some point to these items. Look at World of Warcraft for example. You don't see Warriors running around with their Tier 1 Might gear now, do you? Not for stat purposes at least. Nostalgia, sure. It's the same reason why I have my Y1 Shadow Price still. My first legendary and coveted go-to AR. But it's just nosalgia at this point. People really need to stop crying about this (not saying the OP or anyone here is) , but really? Anyone that thinks weapons like Gjallarhorn are going to be with us for years are just not thinking right.

                        • Don't you remember the trend? Destiny 1 base gear, dark below raised light levels made old guns useless, how makes all weapons viable, the taken king makes all weapons obsolete rise of iron brings all previous dlc weapons forward.

                          • Okay Rise of Iron is part of the Taken King release year. Destiny 2 (year 3) won't start til next year some time, they are probably going to reset max light to year 1 max damage of 365, bringing everything full circle so when Destiny 2 releases and the max level increases and your light drops back down you have a new goal to attempt to attain.
