Yes. They can ask for whatever they want. No one has any right to complain. Just like an employer can ask for whatever requirements they want. If you don't fit, look elsewhere.

  • Except the employer pays you. Setting up a group is not the same thing. I personally prefer not to play with people who require ridiculous requirement because the tend to make events less fun to do.

  • I guess I don't see how that's relevant. The point is you don't go bitching to the employer about how stupid their requirements are. You look for another job where you match up better.

  • If you disagree with you're employer then you should find another job. What my point was is that the reason why you abide by what your employer requires of you is because he holds authority over you by the fact that they're the one who pays your wage. That kind of authority doesn't exist on the Internet so there's no really correlation in your analogy.

  • Replace everywhere I said employer with prospective employer then.

  • The thing is that he is not employing you because he is not offering you any form of employment. You do not work under him therefor you are not his employee.

  • So what. Sorry if you're so caught up in the details to miss the point.

  • Too bad your point makes no damn sense. Formulate a better argument before bringing it to the Internet otherwise it's gonna get picked apart. Sorry you didn't think before you typed.

  • It makes perfect sense to me. You don't see the similarities.

  • This is going nowhere and I'm not interested in entertaining this discussion any longer. Have a nice day.

  • I mean it'd make sense to me too, if I was stupid.

Okay one more attempt. Players make game posts looking for help, as do employers when they make job posts. Game posts include the task to be done and the requirements needed, same as job posts. Other players search game posts for something they want to do, same with job seekers. Players need to consider the requirements being asked for before responding to the post, do they meet them? Same as job seekers do. If the requirements aren't met, you move on and look for others. You don't bitch and moan and send hate mail. I consider game posts on LFG and job posts on Dice to be analogous for the purpose of my original post because of the above mentioned items. No analogy is entirely perfect. I see this one as perfect for demonstrating how players should respond to requirements they don't meet.
