The Truth about SBMM in Destiny: How it affects the community

After researching stats / testing out PVP on a new account, simply turning SBMM off isn't the answer. Far more people will be hurt by the change than we think. I'm not saying every gaming being ultra competitive is right either.... but we need to look a the greater good instead of what is best for the top players.

Is the greater good keeping the crucible in a state where nearly every match is an inconsistent lag fest ? I understand that some people don't have lag issues, and some people state they didn't have them during year one, but there are some of us who have experienced lag due to poor matchmaking since day one in the majority of the matches we play. Don't get me wrong, i'm not saying every match has been unplayable, i'm saying the connection is consistently inconsistent. Bungie has stated that they've always had SBMM in the game which doesn't surprise me one bit since the same problems have occured since day one, getting matched with players that aren't even on the same continent, and lagging players becoming borderline invincible. Often enough even the players who have a "80% full green bar" sponge some of your bullets. The bullet sponging has more to do with how the game deals with the situations where there is a lot of latency, but if the matchmaking did a better job in minimizing the lag this wouldn't be such a big problem. During the time Destiny has been out i have lived in two different cities and used three different service providers to connect to the internet, the first two were high speed cable lines, and at the moment i'm on fiber optic. The console has always been wired, and has always been either directly connected to a modem or in a DMZ. All three service providers gave me a good connection to the internet, no packet loss, low jitter, and low pings when testing to different servers in the region. SBMM needs to be removed, not revised back to year one, but removed entirely. The game needs regional, connection based matchmaking so that it could function properly.
