HELP ME UNDERSTAND SOMETHING.
Year One matchmaking. Considerably closer to CBMM compared to the SBMM we have now.
The matchmaking wasn't in favor of, "holding people's hands." Yet people like me and ANYONE else that progressively did better throughout playing year one's matchmaking system did it without the help of a matchmaking system.
People sit here and act like it was absolutely impossible to progress gameplay and stat-wise during year one. I literally don't get it. You have players like me, and I'm not saying I'm a god, who have progressed. If people like me progressed that way, why can't everyone ? This is the first fps that I've even been halfway decent at.
Why ruin top tier player's experiences who play pvp so much more just to help people that play it more casually.
I'm only a 1.6 overall k/d and I can't even que into goddamn miscellaneous game variants like Freelance 6v6 because I played pvp religiously as a solo player until ToO became a thing in HoW. It's depressing. Unless I'm trying to playing Control, Clash, or Skirmish, it takes 5-10 mins to find a full team. I've been in Classic 6v6 matches that started with 4v3 simply because the que was taking too long.
I can't imagine how aggravating it's gotta be for players that are even better than me and have an even smaller pool of players they can que with.
It's causing too many damn problems, compared to fixing things.
Revert to year one's matchmaking system, and press the connections towards skill from there. It's like they flipped it completely over and are trying to work backwards now.

That queuing thing happens to everyone. I have a crap .9 kd and its always at least 5 mins for a non popular playlist. Plus it ends up at times with 6 on one side and 3 on the other. Have to play daily plist and weeklies just to make the most out of a booster.

Your confusing casual vs skill. It's not about helping the casual player vs the ones who play the most! It's about skill vs skill. What I mean by this is, I have more games played on ONE character then you do on all 3 combined. So that makes YOU casual right? That being said, you are a better player than I am obviously. Guess what, it's safe to say at this point I am not gonna get much better. Point is, being casual or playing every minute of every day has nothing to do with sbmm.

I've made 9 characters since launch. What you see isn't all of my characters combined on the app. Anyways, the part where I mentioned "casuals", was just one part of my point. I can go on about lag, etc, etc. Regardless, my main point stands. If I played pvp all throughout year one and managed to improve my gameplay and stats, why can't everyone else do it ? Even when I played like shit, I had some games where I stomped. Gradually I learned what I was doing right and wrong. Just like everyone else should. It's not that damn hard to figure out what works and what doesn't work for you when going up against other players. It depends on your will to progress. Nothing more, nothing less. There is no way in damned hell that I could even do my other sword quests, Imprecation, etc because of SBMM. If I'm not playing the meta, I have zero chance. It would take matches upon matches to get them done. I'm not looking to stomp other players every chance I get. I'm looking to avoid lag, finish pvp related quest lines, and multiple other things. I'm not asking for a complete removal of SBMM because that would be pure hell. But there was nothing wrong with the way year one matchmaking was. Especially after introducing team break ups after blow out matches.
Why ruin top tier player's experiences who play pvp so much more just to help people that play it more casually.
Because there are more casual players out there than ever. The price of entry is the same for everyone so the product has to be accessible to all too.

Soooo. I started as a completely shit player, just like everyone does typically when starting a new fps. Yet I advanced. Just like everyone else had the opportunity to. You can't sit there and completely devote your game to people who are I guess considered, "casual." There needs to be some sort of common grounds. Something like ranked and unranked playlists like Mtashed mentioned. Make ranked playlists have higher drop rates. Offer incentive. It's destroying people's experiences who are above average or better. I know above average and high skilled players would he considered a minority, but you're affecting two tiers of player's experiences right now. I'm borderline being punished because of decent above average in year one. Like I said, if I could come from having hardly any FPS experience and do considerably well even from a solo player's perspective, then anyone can if they set it as their goal. It is not rocket science. It was frustrating, yes. But you have to take the time and learn. All I see this current SBMM is a hand holding matchmaking system.

A choice of ranked or unranked is where we should be going, I've already said that many times. However if players continually get pub stomped you'll find that most just move on and play something else. That's bad for everyone as you're telling to them to 'git gud' or leave. They just leave. Let's also note that this isn't a hardcore game. It's highly casual. Exotic gear 'given away' each week; No official ranking system; no dedicated servers; no regional servers and so on. It's much easier to make a hardcore game and make it casual, it's nearly impossible to start from the other side.

Well written!!! At some point you cant really solo-queue anymore. Youll face full premade pubstomp teams or very very laggy lobbies. Thats kinda what kills the fun for me in destiny. The only thing thats ok is trials.
-
Right. Trying to solo que with even my stats is almost guarantee 3+ man teams in 6v6 variants and 2+man teams in 3v3/2v2 variants. And that's the damn truth. Isn't it sad that Trials is more, "casual" than regular pvp right now ? Atleast like until you get around the 6-7 wins area usually. Supposedly the most competitive game variant is more causal than all the regular crucible game variants combined lmao.
