I agree that if they want to force SBMM on us, that there should be Ranked and Social playlists. They could even create exclusive emblems, shaders or even gear for reaching the highest ranks and maintaining them as an incentive to try and limit pub stomping in Social.
However, the current state of the Crucible only seems to be enjoyable for the casuals. Frankly I'm getting tired of seeing at least one of these every match... http://xboxdvr.com/gamer/Malicious203FLK/video/17815739
Also, as far as the argument against a Social playlist goes... If you don't want to get pub stomped, then play Ranked. Where you're guaranteed to play people of your skill level, even if you're crap at the game.

So all the casuals hop into ranked so they play people of a similar skill level, all the want to be pub stompers jump into casual list wanting to feel like gods but finding no-one but each other.... Exact same split as you currently have, the social playlist will be utterly empty or just filled with red bars and the occasional random who thought social sounded more relaxed while the ranked playlist will basically be what we have right now. You either have CBMM to appease the top tier, or you have SBMM to appease the casuals or you try to hybrid to keep the peace. With content droughts until D2 Bungie is clearly aiming at the latter as they are trying to hold onto the PVE players by giving them the opportunity to actually enjoy crucible. The majority of complaints come from the Top tier, no doubt, the vocal minority. The odds are that the lower stat people complaining are just jumping on the bandwagon as their connection issues are more likely to be due to the dwindling player base and other issues than SBMM. They have lag and just say it's SBMM because that's what they see everyhere.

Edited by NYDIBS: 5/23/2016 10:44:30 PMif there were 2 Playlists, ranked and unranked, all the scrubs would choose ranked and the good players would be screwed again it would just make it even laggier bc the playerbase, which is disappearing, would be split up again
