Rumor has it that the NX will be using cartridges for its games, eliminating any potential backwards compatibility (minus virtual console games(maybe)). According to a financial briefing from Macronix, a supplier of flash memory for Nintendo, they believe their next quarter will be as successful as the last due to the impending launch of the NX next year. This hints that they might be supplying the tech for cartridges that might be used for the NX's games. What do you think? If this is true, then this may be a smart move from Nintendo. I mean, flash memory has come a long way since the N64 days. For instance, some 64gb micro SD cards cost less than a PS4 or Xbox one game.

1 ReplyNo it won't happen but I know for a fact Nintendo will use their own optical discs like they did with the GameCube, Wii, and Wii U, they need to make a deal with Sony and use Blu Ray's for the NX because that console needs Blu Ray support it's a standard
