He had a traumatic head injury while in the marine corps. Mom was supposed to be informed about it before she even married him. She wasn't.
After he passed away when she went to the base she found out he was supposed to see a psychiatrist once a week. They had the letter he sent his CO saying he was seeing a psychiatrist off base (he lied.)
She was afraid of divorcing him. She tried to keep him calm whenever his mood became dark.
Eventually he disappeared. Years later mom got a call from another state that he was in a coma. I think she did the right thing, not divorcing him. He was dangerous, not always, sometimes.
