1st off, this is not a story. It is poetry. What do we do with poetry? We find the meaning.
My interpretation...
First, it is literal. It is describing how someone with something like schizophrenia thinks. How their world looks. The pill is the only thing that connects them to reality. They need it, because it gives them truth; what is truth? Because of their condition, they cannot distinguish which reality is real; theirs, or the pill's.
The pill becomes something needed, but at a cost. It is different for everyone. The pill enables the person to function/remain/be. For many it's money, something required that turns corrupts. It can be anything; government, people, jobs, family, reputation, looks, etc... All this and more can be the pill as long as it limits you, but to stop "taking the pill" would be disastrous.
Towards the end, I see life as the pill. Some become addicted to their pill, then depression kicks in. Eventually, some may resort to a different pill. One that gives silence and takes away everything. Yet the question still remains, what is your pill?
Very well written.

That summary was spot on.

Thanks, it wasn't too hard. You made it clear through your writing what the general idea was about, yet retained enough details to keep different meanings. That is a mark of good writing my friend. If you have not already, I would consider refining your writing and perfecting it. Based off of this, I can already tell you could write great things. Keep it up!
