I loved the older Need for Speed titles, especially the period of time between the original Hot Pursuit on PSX up to the Underground collection - which I still have and play. Midnight Club was never in a position to take the throne til the Dub Edition Remix proved to be pretty solid and MCLA specifically stands out in the genre for its adaptive difficulty curve - it made the game personalized in a way to the player that really hadn't been done before, much like how CodeMasters are making top tier games now. Going from games like that to, say, GT or Forza just make these once game changing titles look like they're behind the times now. Sorry to Polyphony and Turn 10...but you guys need to step up in a major way.
