This first bit is important! I'm going to define free speech so that everybody knows the boundaries of discussion.
Free speech includes any and all speech, writing, or other medium of communication. It does not include speech that deliberately and immediately endangers the rights of others. It does not include libel or slander.
Anything else is fair game! Hate speech is included.
What are your thoughts on free speech? Libertarians are strong advocates of free speech, and we oppose state censorship. We also make a distinction between state censorship and private censorship. For example, Bungie can remove anything from these forums, and it's justified to a degree. The state cannot (provided your rights are protected) silence speech like that.

Edited by Z31 Turbo: 4/29/2016 2:18:59 PMAll rights can be restricted and don't just give use freedom to do whatever we want. Other peoples rights end, where mine begin. We should not be allowed to yell fire in a crowded theater if there is no fire. What do you think about all the other constitutionally protected freedoms? Should they be unrestricted? Gun buyers no longer have a waiting period right? Well, people who want abortions can now have those unrestricted up to the day the kid is born. Careful what you wish for, it goes both ways.

1 ReplyOf course we support free speech. We aren't tumblr

It's a lie

I only think threats should be illegal.

I don't have to pay for it.

2 RepliesIf i was a girl, i would get pregnant as many times as possible, then have abortions after the third month of being pregnant so i would deliver a potato sized 1/3 developed dead fetus, then i would take the fetus, put it in a jar of preservative liquid and put it on a shelf in a secret room in my house, and i would do it until i had so many that the rooms walls were nothing but potato sized aborted fetuses, then i would have a kid and when they're bad i would make them sit in the fetus room.

3 RepliesI support property rights and thus by extension free speech. If one is in a public area, an area on is the sole or co owner of, or in an area where one is given express permission by the owner or a representative of the owner then one is allowed to say and do as they wish so long as it does not infringe on the rights of others to do the same.

1 ReplyNothing's free

There's definitely some times where I've questioned whether or not free speech is definitively a good thing.

2 RepliesThe moment the government censors any speech to block any opinion of any kind, we slip into fascism.

Everything is OK.

12 RepliesLet's take it one step further. No laws at all. No government. Survival of the fittest. It is the only way to truly be free.

I think it's all well and good but that people need to realize it doesn't exempt them from any consequence other than legal consequence.

10 RepliesLast time I commented on a post like this I got banned I think some state censorship is alright so you don't get people being like super racist to each other

Edited by Reggie_Wok: 4/28/2016 7:32:08 PMI personally believe free speech to be the most crucial right we as humans have. The ability to express oneself without censorship is of the upmost importance, especially when it comes to protecting our other rights. I'm sick of people on the internet always trying to limit free speech in order to make themselves feel more comfortable. That's not how this works. My, and everyone else's, right to expression/speech is greater than someone's right to emotional comfort/security. Of course people are allowed to react and have their own opinion, but actual censorship is dangerous and stupid. People have the right to ignore what I say, but not the right to silence me or anyone else. However, I do realize Bungie's right as a private company to censor their own forums. This is fair as it doesn't have the same implications as state censorship and doesn't infringe on my personal rights as I can still go elsewhere to express myself. But at the same time, I do personally think Bungie should lighten up on its censorship.

Depends some "free speech" costs lives! So to reveal your views on life is fine! To tell others to act against some for whatever reason isn't!

Edited by Sproutys: 4/28/2016 7:01:30 PMfree speech should be allowed,just as long as you don't trigger me ╭( ͡° ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° ͡°)╮

Is it freedom to say 2+2=4?
-
5 RepliesSo it's not ok for the state to censor me, unless I say something untrue of someone's character?

I believe everyone should be entitled to their own opinions/religions/whatever and they shouldn't be criticized or hated for that. In other words. If someone says something you don't like, don't complain, don't get offended, just man up and realize it's just words. -
Yeah free speech as you've defined it is 100% ok.

1 ReplyFree speech is the only way.
