  • Then I see why you're shouting doom and gloom, the Platinum Demo was by far the worst representation of this game to date. Episode Dusce however was a direct slice from the main game, back then the combat system was a bit different, as were many of the button placements but ultimately controlled the same. However the enemies that littered the world required you to use the more advanced techniques because they actually posed a threat. Thankfully Dusce dedicated time to teaching you the advanced techniques, unlike the platinum demo. Imps could poison you, Saber Tusks could pin you to the ground, and mother of god that Behemoth fight... Not to mention every time you would fight out in the open for a long period of time with out leaving the area Magitek Troopers would drop on to your head and those guys were really tricky to fight early on. Dusce showed us how the level up system and resting system would work, it showed us how discovering side quests would work. It showed us all these great things, and let the game build hype among the community on its merits alone. Not just on how pretty it was. Surprisingly episode Dusce was more optimized than the Platinum Demo....

  • My opinion is based solely on the platinum demo, but read they revamped the dusce demo's combat system. People were complaining about it on social media. I also enjoyed Kingdom Hearts, but to have a similar styled combat system in an FF game feels completely wrong. The Dusce demo also had lots of performance issues.

  • The only major difference between this new combat and Dusce is you can now manually weapon switch, before hand you could only put weapons in a deck and Notics would switch to them automatically during combat. You had an Opening strike weapon, a weapon for the main combo, and a finisher. You also had a weapon for counters, and one for air combat. The new system gives players more control over what weapon they wanna use at any given time.
