I'd say handguns are fine as they are. They have short range, but they're the only special weapon that starts with ammo on respawn and can kill rather quickly. Get one with Hotswap and rangefinder if possible.

  • Exactly. I'll admit hand cannons were op in house of wolves. I sniper people with fate bringer.they need a small adjusting. If tjose things were fixed, I would used thwm more often, even in raids

  • You really can't take hand cannons into the raid anymore. Range drop off and reserve rounds is lacking to say the least. Most have 60-66 reserve rounds? Even most exotics is sadly lacking for the hand cannon reserve amount of rounds.

  • 140 rounds is enough for me. And we're you using the Vestian? That one had that problem a lot because of its slow travel time.

  • It's not enough in the reserve. Period. They need a small buff. Especially with the hit detection. Just because what toy think may be ok for yoy doesn't mean it's ok. Reserve needs buff so does hit detection

    It is a special weapon for a reason. Handguns are back ups to your primary weapon. Hit detection is perfect as it is.

  • Hand cannons not side arms. I didn't make the list comparing scouts to the "sidearm" class. At no point did the first curse quest need to be done with side arms either.

  • You have confused what was written in the post. You have bee talking about side arms not the hand guns or hand cannons. I wasn't comparing special weapons to primaries at any point. The hand cannon primaries are lacking at this point and this need to be addressed.

  • Thanks for posting. It's not the range that's a problem. It's this new accuracy bs they introduced with the new patches and recent dlc's. Handgun accuracy never needed a nerf.

    Yeah I hear that - but I'm not saying head hits from cross map every time but at mid range they have this insane phantom miss rate. I was using nothing but handguns for most of the iron banner. Eyasluna (actually very accurate) Byronic hero - imago - down and doubt and a handful of others. The accuracy is surprisingly bad on most.

  • Handguns aren't really meant for mid range though. You're trading in a shotgun or fusion for a more reliable close range secondary that you can pull out in a pinch.

  • Agreed - but even at their intended range they are getting stomped on by scout rifles. Treads on stars, not like the others ect ALL have a better base accuracy and higher reserve round count. Even at close to mid range guns like suros dis 47 or covelance duty is out performing the legendary handguns. Pvp wise I get consistently more kills with scouts than hc. Even in strikes - or your next raid. Take a handgun and see what I am saying. Eyasluna, imago whatever - You get 60 reserve rounds with most of them and a terrible accuracy after short to mid range. You run out of rounds at so many points during the raid. Even hawk moon is straggling with a paltry 66 (I think it was) reserve rounds. The range needs tweaking and CERTAINLY the amount of reserve rounds carried.

    Not really. Handguns hit for about 50 to the head with a fire rate of 300rpm. With crowd control active my havoc pigeon can kill in three shots at a fire rate of 257rpm. They're best right outside of shotgun range where scouts are really weak.

    That's a side arm not a hand cannon. Nobody takes hand cannons to raids anymore. It's all scout rifles and autos. The only truly good side arm ever was the vesting dynasty. The rest are all just average. Hand guns are lacking in reserve rounds and no longer a viable choice for raiding ect.
