The Infinite Lines Theory Part 3
So, as I’m sure you can all tell we’re really getting into it now, what does that say about the Future War Cult, who is their highest ranking member? I really wouldn’t want to just say Lakshmi because she’s the Future War Cult Representative… but…

Ok, well that’s incredibly un-useful. So let’s see what we can get from this. The two things that stick out for me when I first read this card is her love of secrets, and her philosophy. So digging a little deeper we find out more about her thoughts.

But wait wait wait… she’s been “reborn” [i]once[/i]? We have learned from Cayde’s Journal that he used to be a Human, turned Exo, we believe or disbelieve that Maya has uploaded herself as the Exo Stranger, would these acts, Human to Exo, not be considered a “rebirth”? And if so, then why is her number, the signifier of how many wipes an Exo has had, two? I believe that an Exo starts at the number 2, their first wipe being the wipe from their original Human self. And that means Lakshmi is practically untouched, her memory must be near perfect of her Human past and her Exo past! And once again by digging deeper we find this.

These are all quotes from Lakshmi that can be heard by standing by her, and these are all wars that, with the exception of Tranquility, can be accounted for as a location in our system. Tycho is a crater on Luna, Mumbai and London are places on Earth. These wars no doubt go as far back as the start of the Collapse, but does she know more? Does she know about things that she’s not telling us? What is this “Inner Circle” that she mentions and what do they know? I think she knows the Exo Stranger, well i know she knows the Exo Stranger, but I think she knows more.

These are more quotes to be heard by her, and I think it’s clear she know’s who the Exo Stranger is, but I believe it shows she not only knows that she exists but that she knows her agenda and maybe even who she is personally. So once again we’re led back down this past of who is Lakshmi? Looking one last time at the things she has to say, I believe I’ve glimpsed the anwser.

Now, I know what I am going to say is a bit crazy, but I think it fits snuggly. Lakshmi’s fate was thrust upon her from a time long ago when she learned about the truer natures of the Darkness working out on Hyperion. I believe she changed her name for the sake of anonymity, but was once lovingly called by the Exo Stranger Chioma Esi.

I really don't think it's Chioma. I think she's a trusted ally, but not Chioma. He or She was working on a totally separate project. I imagine it was someone working with Maya when she started the tradition

The fwc uses the machine to send the little ghost mentioned in the grimoire through because the human mind was too weak to handle it, what the ghost saw were the images seen in the vault of glass legends grimoire

First of all, I've been saying that Maya is the stranger for just about forever now so it's good to see the idea accepted by so many other people. However I'm not going with Lakshmi being Chiomi because the only piece of evidence towards that is Lakshmi knew the stranger. Going by that she could be literally anyone alive at the same time as Maya, or just met Maya as the stranger. Needs more evidence but I suppose it is plausible

All exos start as 1 but when she downloaded her consciousness she had to wipe the Exo memory. I believe it is Chioma who is within Lakshmi

1 ReplySo Lakshmi-2 = Chioma? Interesting, but I'm not sure I buy it. I would find it much more believable if there was a history of exos taking new names upon being converted from their flesh and blood substrate, like if Cayde for example had a different name before his change. You could have saved a lot of space, and not have to break things into 3 separate posts by quoting just the relevant portions of cards. Yes, there is a connection with the Exo Stranger, who is likely Maya Sundaresh (though I have read a very convincing theory that it's the non-guardian Bray sister), but that connection can be explained simply by the fact that Maya Sundaresh was the founder of the FWC, and the FWC carries on her previous work (and likely provide aid). When she used the Device to see the future, the results were so erratic that the researchers developed superstitions to try to get it to behave how they wanted it to, hence why Maya used the word "cult." Maya also left all her records and notes behind for what would become the FWC to follow the practices she established. [quote] We are all growing superstitious. The behavior of the device is inconsistent. Impossible to replicate. We turn to ritual behavior to appease it. [...] I’m resigning, my love. 1 ReplyWait, so Lakshimi is Maya Sundaresh and Chioma is The Exo Stranger ? If you look at the "Ghost Fragment : Vex 5" we can see that the records are similar to the description of the Infinite Lines set, then at the end Maya says the word "cult", so I think she is Lakshimi

5 RepliesHow do you think Maya is traveling around? Do you think she entered the multitude of timelines through her own timeline? I know there is a card that says something about Rasputin being their lifeline or something when in an Exo body or something...what I mean to ask is, do you think our characters are in one of those simulated worlds or part of Maya's real world (infinite timelines)? It's hard keeping track of what's current in her real timeline or what timeline is the real one...this should be a nice novel once it's fully complete.

1 ReplyI at least know this, the many Kings that rose and fell, she's referring to the time of the dark ages, there is a card that tells you in this time many Kings rose and fell. Very cool to hear lore about our fwc representative, I never really thought about who she was, but I guess she's more then any of us thought.

This transgression also actively returns them to the deep stone crypt. If the logic is true, and fwc had true ties with sunderesh or the brays; it could be lakshmi like cayde was a human. Unlike him however, she was completely wiped. Though an exo can see their past in the crypt. They murder all they've seen there Perhaps when lakshmi-1 died, and she returned to the crypt; she saw a much clearer version of it. Of everything. It could have been a horrid experience. One that not only was a failure of wiping her past as lakshmi-1, but gave her memories of even father before This would explain her hesitation of being restored, and tendency of keeping secrets. If anyone were to become the wiser; the speaker might do the same as he did to Toland, Osiris, and what he attempted to do to eris. This would also explain her adamant attempts of reinstating "the device" She saw her past. Perhaps then she accepted war as something else. Now that she knows it more than a transient condition; she wishes to see the future in which we win the war. And a gunslinger who had the name bray was at the battle of twilight gap. One who was apart of fwc. Perhaps the brays were the leaders till they all... Disappeared

2 RepliesKeep up the fabulous work. :) And It does kinda seem likely that the Stranger is Chioma and Lakshmi is Sundaresh. It almost seems like Bungie will make it so the Darkness wins and the Taken armor in Update 2.2 is the first step.

So, is Maya Sunderesh scouring the timelines looking for one in infinite peace so she can push our timeline in that direction? Has she already found it, and we are the best hope? That quote: "A trillion timelines, and all at war. Like a thousand red flowers growing in a black garden." Is Lakshmi referencing THE Black Garden, and if so, does the key to peace come in tearing it apart, perhaps starting with its "heart?" Lots of unanswered questions here.

I just don't see anything supporting it. It sounds like the Exo Stranger is just a rebuilt Exo pre-collapse Exo unit. Also, too, you should look up Roko's Basilisk, if you haven't already.

Thats why I think Destiny could be so much More!.... better/equal similar to Star Wars Lore if you allow me to compare. I have been wondering how cool a very Detailed Destiny movie would be! off course not being M. Night Shaylaman the director! By the way I have heard that Cayde-6 is Rasputin... is there any possibility of that? Sorry if you had figured out about it already, I just have seen some in-game clues that relate them and also His dislike for Eris is more profound, which takes me to another questions I have, why is Eris the only survivor, is she being used by ancient hive and using us for something else, I was standing next to her and she said something like "eye by eye you see? they took one and I took three" so that makes me think that she was converted/hallowed to be a puppet? maybe?...and what is the fragment on his ball, when oryx became taken he took his power from the sword, and Eris recovered the fragment in the sword and gave it to us. why?!...sorry many of these thoughts are just for in game. I haven't much time to read the grimoire cards. Thanks again! keep it up!

2 RepliesThank you, these posts are well thought out and a lot of fun. I have never looked into Future War Cult and it seems like I've been missing out on a lot. The Ishtar Collective experiments are really really interesting and it's very cool to see there's seemingly so much more to them. I want to comment on the smallest question you've raised and say that mankind first landed on the moon in a location called the Sea of Tranquility. This could be the Tranquility Lakshmi mentions as we know the Hive came to the Moon.
