Wouldn't motes of light be easier? I've accumulated like 250-300 simply by playing the game. The first gold tier public event of the day rewards you 5 motes, leveling up rewards you 5 motes. Some bounties give you motes, and you get them as rewards for redoing nightfall/strikes/crucible rewards. Just seems easier to just use those unless you need them to level up gear.

motes feel easiest when you are donating them but you donate 5 at a time for 100 rep. In terms of purchasing from Xur: 5 motes = 10 strange coins = 100 rep 10 strange coins = 30 heavy synth = 750 rep. So heavy synth is a vastly better purchase from Xur than motes. But of course no one who is seriously levelling factions uses just 1 approach. The more rep sources you can get the better, and motes are earnt at a fairly high rate so can play a major part in levelling.

But I appreciate you taking the time to let me know how the math checks out. But I agree, anyone interested in leaving their factions use a mix of all sources.

Like your math has it as one character and using only one material, but if you are sharing stuff between characters then the amount of materials would double. When taken King dropped I had like 1000 weapon parts. And if you are using a mix of heavy and motes then your numbers would definitely change. Still, pretty cool that you compiled this. Props to ya.

I just saved up for a while, now sitting at roughly 1200 motes, 1500 weapon parts, 620 coins, 500 materials ( from planets ) and 200 heavy synth.. - hope the vendor stuff is any good when i can easily get 25 ranks

Like day one players will have more weapon parts, more motes, more heavy synths(especially considering it's all xur ever sold that was useful) and more raid materials from vog and Crota. They would also have more strange coins considering we could get 9 a week per character from the weekly heroic strike, as it wasn't a playlist then. But from what you have so far it helps people get an idea. The only thing you could do is divide the materials in half for each type of material, so we would know a combination of what it could be. Like half motes half weapon parts half heavy. Or even half heavy half motes. But idk.
