Honestly from the grimoire it sounds like the Traveler was a coward who only interacted with species to try and get them to defend it from the darkness. One card even said the traveler had vanished and suddenly reappeared to get it's butt kicked defending earth. I don't think it's good or bad, i think it was scared crapless and finally had enough and fought back. This unintentionally saved what was left of humanity and the ghosts are really just trying to get it back online or awaken it so it can haul ass away again.
