He made a joke about one guy saying he was going to bite the head off of a duck and beat his Xbox with its body. He was trying to lighten the mood. That's it. Deej is told what he can say and what he can't say, if bungie doesn't feel like the content is ready for a reveal, then it won't be revealed until they are ready. Deej tried to make the community laugh by sharing that post. In my eyes he wasn't attacking the community, a guy made a post, he responded with a comment back that got some people to laugh, and he decided to link it in case nobody got what he referencing if you missed that post

Edited by MacheteSquad: 3/12/2016 6:16:21 AMGiving out that sort of information is not Deej's call he has to follow the Nondisclosure agreement(NDA) he signed upon taking the position. That legally binding contract most likely states he will lose his job if he violates it and I have heard of others NDA's that actors, voice actors, and other positions involved in creating entertainment have had to sign that said there would also be fines of $10,000+ if they violate the NDA. He could have stayed quiet yes and said nothing but making a simple joke is not that bad considering what that poster was asking for was 100% out Deej's hands. Honestly it is these forums overreacting which is not surprising in the slightest.

Seriously, if Deej had said something like "I'd love to give you a bunch of details but the developers tell me I can't" even that would be appreciated, as it's an attempt to actually connect with the community. Instead he acts like a dick to someone, calling him out not just in his original post, but personally in an otherwise completely worthless update. What has Bungie done lately to earn any sort of good will? This poster was practically (and I think even literally) just begging for SOME reason to stick with the game. Might I remind you, off the top of my head, a game suffering from erratic hit detection, a backstabbing mechanic that doesn't actually require your enemy to be behind you, seemingly at least one person every pvp match that is virtually unkillable due to connection problems, a perk mechanic on guns (firefly on the vanity from FWC for sure but other guns as well) that STILL can completely crash your game, even though they've known about it since taken king dropped, and god knows how many other issues big and small, and this other poster just wanted SOMETHING to hold on to to keep him here. This loyal customer presumably didn't expect to be called out essentially by name, with his post linked in the update, and mocked openly by a tone-deaf community manager who has done literally nothing to earn the sort of good will that generally comes with that sort of joking around. I'll readily admit, it bugs me way more than it should, and as many people note, it IS after all just a game. But it bugs me all the same

A community manager is suppose to manage a community, yes that is true. But under that job description is basically saying he is a messenger. He is told what he can say when he can say it. All anyone has to do is look it up. This isn't me trying to start a giant argument, all I'm saying is he tried to make a bad situation into a funny one, while some laugh others got bothered, and others got their underwear in a knot. We all want content, as much as the sky is blue, but screaming and yelling at the man who has no say in when it drops or what gets revealed is getting quite ridiculous to some extent. Everyone just needs to take a breath and relax. Deej didn't mean anything bad from this, he just wanted people to laugh and that's it.

He may have wanted it to be a joke, but the way it was implemented was very easy for it to be taken as an insult. The guy posting clearly had genuine concerns with where the game is headed, and then his post gets seemingly mocked in the weekly update. Deej just should have thought about how people might react before he added that end bit. It's an unprofessional post for a community manager, whether it had good intent or not.
