So I am playing a little Clash today, minding my own business when all the sudden things get pretty laggy, it feels like I am reacting too late to everything, etc. etc. BAM! It's because I'm red barring.
The match (for me) starts out slow, I have a couple assists and a kill or so and the next thing I know, I get a "trying to reconnect" message and when I respawn, my score is zero. Is this the damage referee in action? Your score is stripped from you and you screw over your whole team? :(
I'm asking because I truly do not know, I have never, ever, ever, ever been a red bar. Anyone else have an awesome connection giving them red bars all the sudden.

This game has its problems truly. Lag seems to be the largest in my opinion. People like us with good net get bs'd while the 3mb people lag through shots
-
Your host player was lag switching maybe. That would bring everyone down. Or it could be them bloody servers playing up.
-
It's not all about your speed. Alot of other factors come into play.
-
That happened to me last week in a rumble... lost a few 100 pts and still won!

Yeah happened to me yesterday and I have the best connection around atm. Everything just suddenly lagged and everyone stopped moving for long periods. I went from green to red instantly. What's going on?
-
Damn that beats my 1.5mb/s Internet by miles!

Wow and i thought i had a godly internet connection with 200Mbit...
-
It's other people dude not you
-
Same here man. I've had an excellent connection (wired) since I started playing Destiny. Just within the last 2 weeks I've consistently gotten weaseled almost every time I get on and i seem to momentarily lose connection. Not sure if it's my ISP or just the game because my xbox live stays active.

Distance to the host.
-
its the Lag compensation / damage referee . Lag compensation IS NOT the throttling of a connection so everyone is playing "on the same level". It's the prediction of a players location to make up for the time lost during the physical transfer of packets from one's system to the server(host).
-
It's not your connection at home. It's your connection to other consoles. Theirs to yours
-
Fiber and lightbulb stuff op PLZ nerf
-
It's bungie. I can play battlefront or battlefield easily without any connection issues but when I play destiny I immediately red bar
-
My PS3 destiny used to lag when someone was on YouTube and my ps4 well was okay for a couple of weeks/months then it started happening red barring lagging on cod it was something to do with having a high ping went wired with a BT box it's not the best but it keeps my connection green even though my provider is Virgin media can listen to Spotify and YouTube with out having no problems
-
1 ReplyA few reasons. 1. bandwidth. Is yours loaded with a bunch of devices? 2. Equipment. Are your routers and modems up to handle speeds like that? 3. You're not the host of the match and the guy hosting is having issues.
-
-blam!- me i would kill for that speed
-
1 ReplyYou got google fiber or something? That Internet is so much better than most xD
-
3 RepliesHow in the hell did you get God's Internet?!? I'm over here rocking 10 down and 3 up. WTF
-
No matter how fast your Internet speeds are, if you are not the host, you will connect at the speed of the host.
-
Do we actually know what the bar means? I.e most games it's just ping which is very loosely tied to your internet speed.
-
I have a red bar most of the time if my house isn't empty or if everyone isn't asleep. Then again I have 6 mbps that goes as low as .9 mbps when other people are on the internet.

So uh, when things like this happen, don't flip out. Yes, Gigabit connections are most of the time, Epic. Like others have said though, that doesn't mean the rest of the interwebz are super amazing autobahns all over the place. Also, read about "Internet Health Report" and some associated tools. It's easy to understand (for the most part) if you know some of the main routes that your local ISP utilizes to said interwebz... Godspeed Guardian.
