Yes.
Use a gnasher. Try not to look at the reload meter to let your reactions get used to timing the active reload, this will let you focus on maneuvering.
All characters are right handed, so you try to always attack from that side. If your to your target's left, that's even better. You don't have to stick to cover when firing. It's safer to stand slightly behind large cover to inch your sights out to engage rather than putting your back to the wall and exposing yourself to shoot around a corner.
Once you get the active down, practice aiming with your elbow. Aiming in has its time and place, but it will limit your movements. Don't stare at the elbow, look above it and make imaginary crosshairs with a another line just below the shoulder. You don't have to get get close immediately. Work your target down. If they try to run, pull out your lancer, they won't heal fast enough to get far.
You'll notice the shots are a little down and to the left from the center of your screen, that's why those imaginary crosshairs are a good thing to think of.
When you get a little more confident, try aiming in as an adjustment tool. This sounds odd, but you'll notice that you shoot a little higher and closer to the center of your screen. With practice, you'll see that aiming in is a good defensive move to hit a target that's rushing you from around a corner, especially from the right. Though this probably won't down the enemy outright, it'll put enough hurt on them for you to reposition and land a killing blow. With the right timing and knowledge of how high to raise the aim, this tactic can actually lead to quick headshots, but it is first and foremost a defensive move.
You can probably guess that movement is key. Hiding in one spot is a good way to trap yourself, and if you're losing a fight, get out of it, ready up while they give chase, and attack only when you know you hold the advantage. Put them on the defensive. You'll see people moving in ways that appear to be lagging or broken, they are most likely wall bouncing. This is a movement that's not hard to pick up, but difficult to master and use effectively. Work on reloads first, and feel free to join up with me when you want to work on movement. I'm not what I used to be, but I'm still happy to teach what I know.
