I'm sorry, but this is incorrect.
A) the ontological power originated from Oryx's throne space, yes. But that does not mean only the Taken can use it. Quria transmitted the information of ontological power to the Vex network. The Vex then created their own throne space, The Vault of Glass. This is why they cannot use the ontological power anywhere else, as you stated. Also, Gorgons are not the only things in the vault with ontological powers. The oracles also possess this ability. The Vex have used the information from Quria to manufacture their own versions of this ontological power. But here is a difference. For Oryx, his POWER is ontological. For the Vex, they use ontological WEAPONS. Devices that recreate Oryx's ontological power. This feeds into my next point.
B) There are not, and never will be, Taken forms of machines. Oryx can only take biological entities. This is because "Taking" them is to take their will. Machines (servitors, shanks, and harpies) do not have a will of their own for Oryx to take. Before anyone tries to say all of the Vex are just machines, I'll stop you there. That is incorrect. Their grimoire clearly states them to be organic. Some versions (goblin, hobgoblin, minotaur, etc) do have an organic life source while others (harpy, cyclops) are just machines. Gorgons cannot be taken Harpies. There is no gap in the Taken roster, except for Dregs. But even then, to be taken is actually a gift. Dregs are Dregs because they have dishonored their fallen race. You could say they are not worthy of being taken until they are a Vandal again.
C) you misinterpreted the Taken Thrall ability. Their purpose is to get closer, yes. Taken abilities are meant to cover weakness, to be better forms of themselves, not exhibit what they desire. The thrall ability teleports them SIDEWAYS, not towards the enemy, so they don't die so easily. It literally says that in their grimoire.

A harpy is alive just as much as hobgoblins, minotaurs and goblins, etc. They have the biological matter within as well with the mechanized body the traveler built for them. Or Rasputin... Not entirely sure which... Considering Rasputin helped the group who was studying them and made the group proxy bodies. Or since the traveler had the vex helping terraform.
-
Harpies have to be biological. Every time I sneak up on one, it shrieks and its fins flare up. That is fear my friends, fear. Machines do not have fear.
-
It doesn't only do that when you sneak up behind it. It does that when it sees you under any circumstances. The noise it makes is to alert other vex of your presence. It's a scout.
-
Nah, they fear my wrath. Squal for me pig boy..lmao
-
Servitor a however are godlike beings to the fallen capable of leadership so they should have a will of their own. Not trying to one up you just trying to make sense of the inconceivable wreck you made of OP.

I'm sorry but nobody likes you

Harpies have to be just machines. Even if you land a critical no goo comes out. Just explosions.
-
Yes, but that's not really a good way to go about it. I mean, you don't ever destroy the mind core in a Minotaur, no "goo" (radiolarian fluid), but they do have one.
-
Taken Hydra?
-
Theres a Taken Hydra (technically) in the Praedyth mission
-
There's one also in the Taken version of Cerberus Vae. I believed they were complete machines.....like Harpies.
-
Edited by NobodyJustBrad: 2/29/2016 3:41:47 PMNo. Hydras have mind cores. Very powerful ones, in fact. They are not pure machine.
-
Yes, a Hydra could be Taken. They have a mind core (the biological life source in some Vex models).
-
in story mode it says vex have biological minds so uh youre wrong
-
You didn't read it all then, did you. The Vex share a biological mind. But not all models of Vex possess this core. I know exactly what I'm talking about. So uhhh, you're wrong.
-
Goblins, hobgoblins, hydra and Minotaur have mind cores. However, the minotaurs's core is hidden. Is it possible then that the harpie's core is hidden as well(behind its eye, explaining its crit point)?

-
Lmao you're funny dude. You've replied too many times in this thread, your point has been said.

Edited by I am Skullshot: 2/28/2016 7:34:26 PMThey even say vex share a biological mind in the vanilla story, this guy isn't wrong his points add up
-
Yes, they do. But not all Vex models have this mind core. Follow along.
-
No, all Vex have a Mind Core. Their mind core is their processing. The only Vex that we don't see direct evidence of having a mind core is the Harpy, but there is indirect evidence. Here's a quote from the Prohibitive Mind Grimoire card:
Vex Axis Minds are individual Vex hulls that contain local instances of superordinate Vex goal sets. This cryptic phrase means something reasonably simple - the Axis Mind contains a copy of all the information required to pursue a particular objective.
To be an axis mind, you'd need a mind core. There are Axis Harpies. These include the Gorgons, Theosyion, and even that random Axis Harpy that's on a constant respawn outside of Tharsis Junction (next to his Minotaur and Hobgoblin buddies). I also disagree with your assertion that there "are not, and will never be, Taken forms of machines." The weaponry that our Taken foes carry has the trademarked "Taken" skin to it. But more importantly, the only part of the Vex that isn't mechanical is their mind core. They are a mind core that's been fitted into a combat chassis. That chassis is Taken along with the Mind Core, or it would not have acquired any new abilities.
