The Future Of Destiny

Welcome Guardians! This is The Future Of Destiny! This is an ever-growing list of feedback and ideas for the future of the Destiny franchise! I started a list similar to this a while back, but it received little support and my ideas were taking too long to conjure up. So I'm starting it again and am aiming to update the list weekly and/or edit it as much I can. I plan for this list to be huge so please if you have any ideas or feedback you would like for me to add to this list, message me or post a comment! Were in this together Guardians! Let's help Bungie make Destiny the greatest experience it can be! P.S. Underlined sentences in bold represent a topic/subject. Hyphens represent an idea/detail within that particular topic. Expanding Into The Last City The Last City on Earth is a gigantic place. It is the last light of humanity and should be opened up to the Guardians as the primary social hub of Destiny. The City would be home to vendors, quests, player housing, and more. -City Square: The City Square would be the main hub of the inner city. Merchants reside here to sell their wares to citizens. A human vendor would wander around here who gives Guardians a Daily and Weekly Quest to complete. The Daily Quest awards a large sum of Glimmer, while the Weekly Quest would award players with Nightfall tier rewards. These Quests rotate on a Daily and Weekly basis. -Church Of The Light: The City's only church, used by all religious practices in the city. This includes praising The Traveler itself. Brother Harris, an Awoken, would be the vendor here. He sells Guardians up to 5 different consumables, all of which boost XP gain of some sort. These consumables would rotate on a Weekly basis. Bringing Back Year One Content Year One of Destiny has been great: Vault of Glass, Prison of Elders, and more content have found their way into the hearts of all of us. Destiny should be an evolving AND expanding game. A game that has the freedom to go anywhere it wants while still keeping old content fresh and relevant. In order to do this however, the first year of Destiny will need to see a rejuvenating comeback into Year Two. -Vault of Glass Year Two: Normal mode will be at 280 Light, while Heroic mode will be at 300 Light. The Vex Mythoclast Year Two would have a chance to drop from killing Atheon on Heroic. All weapons from the Vault of Glass will have updated Year Two versions with new icons and a new perk: A perk that would increase damage output to Precursor Vex. This perk would be intrinsic all on VoG weapons, while also having Oracle Disruptor as well. A VoG Sidearm and Sword would also be added to the arsenal. All VoG armor would also have updated Year Two versions with new icons and perks. The VoG class item would also have a perk which would give players a better chance at an unowned item from the Vault of Glass. There would be an Artifact from VoG that would generate an Orb after killing a Praetorian/Oracle. There would also be a Ghost Shell that looks like a Precursor, and would have a perk that would generate a decent amount of Glimmer from killing Precursors. I think a Sparrow Horn with an Oracle sound would be a really cool reward as well. -Vault of Glass Challenge Modes: I think Challenge modes are a great idea and should be further expanded upon for past and future raids. Challenges should be for every segment of a raid though, not just boss fights. -The Oracle Challenge: Make sure that you and your fireteam destroy EVERY Oracle. -The Templar Challenge: Defeat The Templar from ground level. Damaging him from above the area would fail the challenge. -The Gatekeeper Challenge: Do not let any Guardian deal damage with the Aegis. -Atheon Challenge: Destroy Atheon without the use of Time's Vengeance. Rewards would be a brand-new VoG ship, an emblem, a guaranteed Vex Mythoclast, a new VoG-themed Shader, and maybe even an emote performing a Vex-like action. Loot Loot is probably the biggest and most prominent aspect of Destiny. It's what makes the game, and the main reason us as players continue to play the game. The amount of loot we receive and what kind of loot is in the game is something that can only get bigger and better. -Nightfall Loot:Nightfall rewards are something that should be looked at a little bit more, because as of now they are just not rewarding enough. Legendary rewards are certainly fine to have as part of the loot table, but these rewards should be at least 310 or higher. Then we can at least use the item for infusion. You should never receive a reward from a Nightfall that you end up dismantling in the end. Skill Trees Destiny is an RPG. It has most of the fundamentals of an RPG to back it up(leveling, classes, etc), but it lacks an ever-lasting, progressive goal to continue playing and earning XP as you do. Most RPG's solve this problem by having lengthy leveling and expansive skill and talent trees to keep the player engaged and having direct goals to becoming more powerful and more elite within the game. Destiny needs to follow in the footsteps of this, not only by having longer leveling but also by implementing fully-fleshed out, skill trees for the game. These would be completely separate from your subclass, and none of these skills and perks would carry over to the Crucible. This way Destiny can have a system where your Guardian can constantly become more powerful and better simply by leveling or completing other in-game tasks to obtain talent or skill points. Also this way the team at Bungie can have really cool, really powerful perks and abilities for our Guardians without unbalancing PvP. Item Evolution Destiny is filled to the brim with loot, and it should stay that way. Some of this loot can be more appealing to some Guardians than others; more appealing than something that may be Legendary. We should be able to fully customize our Guardian in the future, and a big part of customizing is being able to equip any piece of gear and keep on using it, no matter how weak it is. The answer to this is Item Evolution. Common, Uncommon, and Rare pieces of weapons and armor should be able to be evolved into Legendary versions of them. This way when we come across a great Uncommon piece of gear, either perk-wise or aesthetics-wise, we can have the option to bring this piece of gear with us through it all, not just for a brief amount of time. This is how it would work: When a Guardian comes across a piece of gear that they would like to evolve, they would visit the City's blacksmith to do it. In order to evolve an item, you would need 4 things: 50 Motes of Light, 15,000 Glimmer, Level 40 achieved, and a Sigil of Light. To obtain this, you must get the "A Guardian's Own" bounty from your mentor. To complete this bounty, you must complete a level 40 activity with the piece of gear equipped. Brand New Weapon Types If Destiny is to stay relevant and grow throughout the future, it needs more weapon variety. The best way to do this is to simply add more kinds of weapons to the game. Here are my suggestions for new weapon types: -Bow & Arrow:The Bow & Arrow would be a brand-new Primary weapon type in Destiny. Bows would fire powerful, retrievable arrows that would deal the same amount of damage as a a low-impact sniper bullet. Bows would take a couple seconds to draw and ready the arrow with an extra second more allowing for optimal accuracy. Bows would carry about the same amount of ammunition as that of a Sniper Rifle, but would benefit from Primary ammunition drops and the ability to retrieve arrows after they are fired. However arrows would be destroyed if they succumb to any kind of explosive or AOE damage once they can be retrieved. Bow & Arrows are effective at any range, but are optimal at medium to long-range engagements. Survival Mode Full details here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/194037046/0/0
