Thought about this because some of my music falls into "emotional" (emo) because of the lyrics, even though I'm not even slightly emo myself, and it got me thinking about the most/least important parts of music to different people.
To me all of the sound is important, there has to be balance between all those areas. Particularly because I enjoy contrast, soft (possibly higher pitched but not always) clean vocals against rough scream and/or growls, as well as varying degrees of heavy instruments.
To me the least important is the lyrics. If I don't understand the lyrics of a song (happens often with my type of metal), I often won't even look up the lyrics.
Unnecessarily long post over; tell me your most and least important parts of music.
Btw, really loving Motionless in White again currently.
Edit: Don't forget to post what you most/least important is in a reply below.
If you simply listen to music because it sounds good, just kind if go with it and don't analyze/think about it, then you're the last option.

I'm a drummer so naturally I pick out the drums first.

I just listen to music bro. No need to put all this bullshit labeling. If you feel the vibes, just go with it ya'know?

I don't think about it too much. If I hear it and it sounds good to me then that's that.

Don't forget to reply with your most/least important.
