Go ahead and take a look at the last few matches I played today on this account on my warlock. I believe this account has around a 1.5 - 1.6 k/d overall currently (nothing special at all but I used to hold over a 2.0 on my warlock back in year one) and over a 3 million medal score. Anyway, red bars everywhere and I could barely hold a 1.0... it was crazy (except for the my last game I think). It's not my connection either... I don't believe (at least I can't recall) that I've ever red barred and I have quite a few crucible matches played. Also, I have a Netduma and I was monitoring the connections and I was getting matched all over the world. One game even had a player with an 800ms ping. That's a bit ridiculous. Now, take a look at the match I just played on my father's account here (he has a 0.6 k/d): https://www.bungie.net/en/Legend/PGCR?instanceId=4671980485&characterId=2305843009222408063 It's night and day. I also got my first "We Ran Out Of Medals" in this game. I don't believe I even have that on my account. I pretty much never complain but I gotta say, I do not notice any change that leads me to believe that connection is being favored more than skill. In fact, if I were to never read these updates I would never know that anything even changed (if it even did). Edit: Screen cap of matchmaking this morning... http://i65.tinypic.com/2s9cacx.jpg

  • Lol I am 2+ KD (not just in Destinty, but just about every shooter I've ever played). Was excited about new MM changes and played for a couple hours yesterday evening, and was going negative almost every game. I have never died so much in my Destiny life and been so helpless to do anything about it. IT was saying the connections were mostly green but people were lagging all over the place. Somehow, it was worse than ever.

  • Yea man, it's crazy. But hey, at least you are able to hold on to your 2.0... (for now). Ha... Also, yes... "helpless" is the perfect word to describe how it feels. I'm at the point now that I have to psych myself up to even play crucible solo just knowing how much rage inducing BS I'm about to encounter. But, always naively optimistic that "this time will be better... this next match won't be as laggy." Sometimes it isn't, most of the time it is. I never learn... The shame of the whole thing is that they (Bungie) have a really good game on their hands and we all really like it but they just keep messing with it and making it worse instead of better. People wouldn't complain so much if they didn't want this game to succeed. Generally, people just move on when it's something they don't enjoy. On the subject at hand though, they might as well just see what a week of pure CBMM (skill not being a factor whatsoever) plays out and see how the community reacts to it. What do they have to lose at this point??

  • Yep, it doesn't feel any different to me either. My account has a 1.7 k/d and pretty high ELO and I'm still getting matched against the best players in the world every single game. I'm pulling 0.7-1.2 k/ds consistently now when it used to be 2.0+. However, connections did feel a little better when I played yesterday.

  • Yep... whatever they are trying to do is just not working. SBMM doesn't belong in a P2P game or any game for that matter unless it's in a ranked/league playlist. It just doesn't work. It didn't work in Advanced Warfare and that had dedis so I don't know what they are thinking here. Btw, If you have access to a "not so good" (stat-wise) account I highly suggest playing a few matches on it. It's night and day man. Not with just the skill level of opponents... the overall connection is just... better. Like, more "crisp".

  • They're making it very clear that they don't want us to pubstomp, and they want protection for newer players so that they have a good experience in PVP so they keep playing. I agree completely that SBMM should not be in P2P games at all, and that this current system just needs to be scrapped by Bungie. I do have access to my wife's account, which I played Crimson Doubles on for her. The difference is night and day like you said....and I had a GREAT time playing against a variety of skill levels and weapon setups.

  • I played on my uncle's account who has only been playing the game for a couple of months and it was so nice not facing thorn, the last word, doctrine of passing every single match. I could actually use whatever gun I wanted just like right after the 2.0 update when people were trying every gun. It was actually fun.

  • Exactly... the funny thing is that no one really just wants to pubstomp (at least I hope that's not everyone's goal). We all just want quality matches. I don't care if I face 4.0's or 0.5's or in between. I want my kills to be legit and my deaths to be legit. That can only happen if connection is priority. I wish they would just do what Black Ops 3 does. Connection first and then split up the teams based on the skill levels within that lobby. I have a 2.4 k/d and almost a 2.0 w/l in BO3 and I face people of all skill levels (above me and below me). I win some and I lose some and rarely ever do I complain about lag. I'm not saying lag is nonexistent... but, the instances are so far and few between it's a non issue for me. I sound like a broken record, but connection must be prioritized.

Bump and to share that matchmaking still isn't working... still matched all over the world. Will upload screen cap. Edit: http://i65.tinypic.com/2s9cacx.jpg

  • Not sure what you're getting at... I'm not red barring either. Players that I'm being matched with (and against) are. Which brings up another point. I'm not noticing the benefits of the damage referee. Poor connection players still seem to have a "tactical advantage".

You may be red bar to your opponents. My wife and I play on separate consoles in the same room. Most times we have green bars. On the occasion that she has a yellow bar for me(and mine's green), I have a yellow bar for her(and hers is green). Not disagreeing that matchmaking is still jacked up.

  • My son and I will play together as well in the same room on separate consoles but I've never experienced that. Interesting... The bars should be indicating the quality of your connection to the host at that particular time. To see discrepancies in connection quality from separate consoles in the same household would be indicative of an unstable connection. Hmmm... NAT type open on both consoles? No packet loss? I'm not saying your internet is bad at all, just curious as I've never experienced that. Regardless, I can not attest to what players on the other side of the globe are seeing in regards to my connection quality. I can only go by what I experience with my own eyes. Although, if I'm green then they should see me as green as well because that is my connection to the host. That representation should not change in relation to their connection quality. Now, that's not saying that their connection doesn't effect my connection... I'm saying that if Qu1ckSc0pezzz420 (in Florida) is yellow then n00bkil1a187 (in Australia) will see him as yellow, for example. Qu1ckSc0pezzz420 could be yellow because he is connecting to Australia. The quality of all of our connections can effect (and be effected by) others but the representation of it (the bars) should be consistent to what everyone sees. I have, however, experienced where I've played with others and someone has complained about a "red bar" player and they were "green" for someone else BUT it would change and the person they were "green" for would say something like, "ohhh yup, I see 'em as red now". So yea, regardless... we can agree that the matchmaking is pretty flawed.

  • Yeah, we're both open. We actually run 3 consoles, our son plays also. I played with the network until everyone was open. But, yeah, sitting side by side seeing both screens simultaneously, I've seen our connections show opposite each other. Also, some red for me are yellow for her and vice versa. Most times we are green and most people in the match are green. When there are reds and yellows, it seems to be based on our connection to them because they're different for my wife and I.

Yea, I've seen the slight variations from my monitor to his monitor on other players. Like, if I see a player thats red but teetering on yellow then it might show yellow for him. But, eventually it will show red for him and maybe it will be yellow for me or maintain that crimson glow we've all come to loathe so much. What I've never experienced is our connections being different. Like, if I'm green... he's green. But hey, if everything's good on your end then it's just further proof that emphasis on matchmaking needs to favor connection more than it currently does. I mean, if it's causing red, yellow, green bars in the same house. What is this madness??? Ha...
