Probably because it's the cheapest option. Remastering the previous remasters would require even more work as the original remasters are still below par compared to the PS3-dedicated GOW3

Older games require a massive overhaul - the older they are, the more work's involved from the ground up, going in deep - textures, everything, or it'll just look below par - and you've still got to put in the work right across the board, as you would even a new game, or it's not really worthwhile - and I think there's a few such games not worthwhile around! Lol

Game development isn't that simple, it's very possible that the engine they were built on isn't compatible with the PS4's processor.

Balls. I hope they figure something out. I'd love to try more of Sony's premiere ...hack-'n'-slash franchise, outside of an exorbitant PS Now cash splash. I didn't say action or adventure, 'cos Uncharted.

The remastered versions on PS3 probably were modified to run on the cell processor. That processor is the very reason why there's no backwards compatibility on the ps4. It's so hard to program for that it's just easier to rebuild the engine then port a game.
