GRAPHS: Bungie´s idea of balance

Please look at the above graph. Snipers and Pulse rifles were pretty much killing about the same. And they were clearly BALANCING each other out, then Bungie decided to move thing around and all balance was LOST. Pulse rifles use plumettes sharply, again, look at graph, while sniper rifles moved even higher and MILES from the closest competitor. In practice, dominating a VERY VERY UNBALANCED playing filed. Any word from Bungie?? no. #deej #cozmo #help

  • Sniper are the ONLY weapons class that basically negates light levels, in normal crucible and in modes were light should matter. See, a player with 250 light wielding a 170 sniper rifle will one shot kill a 320 player wit full amor plus bonus in Trials, and Banner, as much as he will kill you in regular crucible. Snipers are so unbalanced that they negate light levels and are the only weapon that kills the same way in any mode, with any light level, wielded by any light level guardian. One shot to the head or 2 to the body and you are done , regardless or amor, mode or even light levels.

  • Once again, snipers are dominating every playlist. But, it's only because everybody is an elite sniper....not because they're too easy.

      • Did you notice that this changes significantly if you change the game mode? Look at control compared to doubles. It looks like everything's nearly balanced. Now go back to doubles and trials and lets think back to when trial became a thing. Snipers ran the table in trials and 2v2 since the beginning. Why is this? Because snipers are the quickest way to eliminate that one player that puts the opposing team at a disadvantage. If snipers get nerfed sure they will tone down on modes like control which are more fast paced, but it's hard to imagine them dying down in trials or doubles given the competitive nature of trials. Now lets imagine if they buffed fusions and sidearms what would happen. Well the sidearm and fusion curve would shift up, while some of the other curves would shift down depending on how good the buff was. Now let's look at doubles and see what character is dominating. Apparently warlocks are, but this actually surprises me. Now I imagine Sunsingers are dominating doubles, but I imagine stormcaller is dominating 6v6. I didn't look at all the game types but other characters and subclasses dominate other modes. Apparently defender Titan was strong in the Rift iron banner, and I also know defender Titan is an animal in salvage as well. Gunslingers do a good job in trials. They can wipe a team in a heartbeat. Shadestep shotgunning dominates 6v6.

                • Looking around at the other game modes it is mostly dominated by auto rifles and other primaries. Elimination type matches should be a slow steathy match. If anything you should be screaming for the nerf to auto rifles and mida...

                  • What would they say?? The graph speaks for itself. They don't known how to balance a system like this and they are floundering. The year two maps all favor mid range engagements. So the numbers prior to the Dec patch looked pretty good. Only hand cannons and SRs being lower than one would expect. So the nerf to PRs was not only unwarranted it was counterproductive. ...and now, as any PvP player can tell you snipers dominate everything now, and are running rampant.

                  • But this is favor...Just because these weapons are over used doesn't make it unbalanced. Some one can go off with the no land beyond and now everyone will use it. It takes more skill to use a sniper rifle than any other weapon in the game. People are complaining about Bungie needing to fix snipers but it is way harder to use than any other gun in the game. It doesn't need a Nerf, just the person wielding the weapon has skill.... Just because someone is good with the weapon, doesn't mean that the weapon is over powered.

                    • This is dumb. Think about the flippin game mode. 3v3 and 2v2 modes will favor sniper rifles, whereas 6v6 and free for all mode favor shotguns.

                        • I laughed when I switched the filter to trials of Osiris and saw about 50% snipers . I'm part of that 50% ,reason being that they are pretty easy to get kills with ,aim at hall,tap L2 ,shoot and you get a free kill ,very little aiming to be done

                          • Because bungie always over compensates. If hand cannons were op and pulse rifles were weak, they'd buff pulse rifles and nerf handcannons, recreating the unbalance where they should've only buffed the weaker weapon. The same goes for what they did for scout rifles, shotguns, and snipers.

                            • Dude it's asinine. Literally this graph represents failure at its core. How can they let this happen? So they take special ammo away, they think this will make a difference. WRONG. By round two all you see are three glints on the opposite side of the map. There are so many ways to get special it's stupefying. Not spawning with any means jack. Hell, you can still use NLB if you don't want to wait on your IB to charge up, or wait in-between rounds to switch from your invective or sidearm.... -blam!-ing failure of sandbox team, failure of a play-test team. Everyone knew the update would mean nothing, people are too smart not to find ways to get their sniper ammo.

                                      Well, the nerf brought pulse rifles in line with the other primaries, so from a "numbers point of view" that actually kind of worked. But, the fact that sniper use is so high is ridiculous.
