tone matters

Tone matters. Please keep things serious and dark. In the beginning, the Fallen is a force to be feared, the Hive a terror, the Vex unstoppable. The Cabal blow up planets and moons just for getting in their way. Let's keep it that way. Levity and humor are like spice—a little goes a long way. I appreciate the work that goes into new content, and personally I have enjoyed every single bit of it. But SRL was a little goofy, the flippant "only the race matters" attitude. The Darkness was just a goofy peanut gallery while we raced to the finish line. Don't get me wrong; I really enjoyed SRL (despite the monotony of only 2 courses). But it lacked the gravitas that makes being a Guardian a noble thing. The Halloween thing was even more goofy. The Prison of Elders was less goofy, but there's that whole "let's arm the inmates and let them tear shit up" kind of stretched an ability to suspend disbelief. For analogy, it can be argued that the beginning of the end for World of Warcraft was when goblins started using pool toys as weapons. If The Division holds something to Destiny, it's not the gun-play, it's not the engine; it's that the seriousness of the story permeates everywhere you go. It pulls you into it. When you make too much of a joke in a thing, it says that the thing doesn't take itself seriously. This is Destiny, not Hello Kitty Online. Destiny is incredibly awesome. Please keep it real.
