You're all ignorant.
Him jacking up the price doesnt affect anyone personally because people never paid the initial price in the first place. You have health insurance, your health insurance pays that shit. THEY are the ones who suffer not you.
Because insurance is mad, they sell the story to the media to make him a villain so you all can be fake mad when in reality he is against insurance & pharmaceutical companies, he did this to give them all the middle finger.
If you have no life insurance and cant afford the drug you get it FOR FREE.
Besides.. there are literally HUNDREDS of aids drugs, dont like the fact that he jacked up the price of one of them? BUY ANOTHER BRAND.
But the general public doesnt know this shit so you get mad for no reason.
The media played you all.

You're quite a -blam!-ing idiot if you think increased insurance costs don't affect the general public.
You're all ignorant
Coming from the guy that doesn't understand that insurance costs reflect healthcare costs. I'm pretty sure the reason this is controversial is because their is no alternative yet, but I think I heard another company is trying to create one to compete with this drug.

Edited by Atomic Tea: 2/7/2016 5:09:59 PM"I'll give this drug away FOR FREE!" - Man who gets arrested for securities fraud You'll excuse me for not believing anything he says. You're the one who is getting played. What magical fairy land do you live in where people can afford to pay the premiums of an insurance plan that covers 90%? Even if you're only paying 10% out of pocket, that's STILL $2,000 a month. That's a lot of -blam!-ing money for medical expenses. For a drug that costs as little as 2 cents in other countries. What about the vast majority who pay 40%? What about the 35 million uninsured? Let's not even pretend he's giving the drug away to the needy for free, because he isn't. "We increased the price by 5500% because we needed to make money." His quote. His direct quote from an interview. He can't make money if he's giving it away for free. And it isn't just used for AIDS.

Buy from another brand. That simple.
-
You do realize at the time he did this there wasn't a readily available alternative? Daraprim didn't have a generic version when he pulled that shit. I believe one or two providers may have pushed out or started working on products with similar chemical formulas since then, but this wasn't a "pick another brand" situation when he made the call. And you call us ignorant.
-
What is the alternative for the drug he raised the price on?
-
Another company made a generic drug already.
-
Thanks for confirming. So this guy is basically an idiot, right? lol. Talk about not understanding basic economics; if you raise a drug by even 100% another company is going to come in an undercut you. God bless the free market, a fair market, if only.
-
He's doing what almost every other drug company is doing. I just don't see the outrage with this and not anything else. People are just mad because they can put a face on this and the guy doing it doesn't care. People should be getting worked up over other things too.
