Nah, Boba used Jango's helmet as a bomb in The Clone Wars.

I'm pretty sure he repainted it. It's a self identity thing. I'm sure he wanted to be better than Jango.

Really? Eh my memory must be a little foggy then because I remember him taking Jango's armor after the battle on Geonosis and hiding it away for later. In some book or something.
