Hello, Guardians!
We all know the Reef for its signature purple glow, but where does the glow come from?
Here's an idea that could explain the wonderful view!

14 RepliesEdited by Flywheel: 2/5/2016 9:21:34 PMExplanation: Artists giving themselves license to draw whatever without asking a scientist. Same way we got: * The Milky Way visible at dusk in the Cosmodrome. * Stars visible on Mars in daytime. * Earthlike gravity on the Moon and Mars. * Despite stronger gravity, the International Space Station hovers above the moon without falling or orbiting. Also, HTH did it get there? * Rings of Saturn that orbit with a fixed radial velocity independent of distance, so the hole blown by Oryx avoids stretching out as it would in reality. * They retconned the gravity issue with a grimoire card saying the Traveler did it, but didn't stop to think that making the moon match the Earth in mass would create devastating tides that would swamp even the highest mountains, eventually causing Earth to be tidally locked to the Moon. * Phobos sits in the Martian sky rather than zipping overhead at speed like in reality. Retconned with a cheap grimoire card explanation. * The sun consumes the sky on Mercury, but is small and distant when in orbit.

2 RepliesThe reef just needs to go away. A waste of space and memory.

3 RepliesAs a professional artist, I can confidently say it's because they just felt like it. I was planning on writing a detailed post about my thought process, but I think that really says it all.

2 RepliesThe glow comes from a 1969 performance by Jimi Hendrix of "Purple Haze."
