First, time is relative, and so light travels faster some places that other places, practically altering the speed of light. This has to do with Einstein's theory of relativity, but I think it is more complicated than than. Second, if Adam was created as a grown man, why couldn't stars be created several billion years old?

Second, if Adam was created as a grown man, why couldn't stars be created several billion years old?[/quote] Einstein's key point is that the speed of light is constant. It is not faster in some places. What is relative is time. The faster something moves, the slower it's time progresses. This is time dilation.

The speed of light is x meters per second. (I can't remember exactly what it is.) If that second passes faster, than light travels that x meters faster, relative to some other point, such as earth. And time travels faster away from gravity, such out in the middle of outer space.
