If we're coing to compare Destiny/Bungie to other games/developers, I shall direct you to the Diablo III launch fiasco.

  • D3 is a far, far different game now. Blizzard actually cares about their game and community, and strive to make everything more fun and better for the players. Bungie's cares go no farther than your wallet, and what they've done with Destiny in a year and a half shows this clearly.

I think the problem is largely that players are impatient. Destiny is by no means a bad game. I've certainly gotten my money's worth out of it so far, and I'll keep saying that even if there's nothing from here to Destiny 2's launch day. Will I buy Destiny 2? Not right away, no. However, that's mostly because Bungie doesn't seem to have a solid game plan, and I won't continue to invest in complete uncertainty. I also wouldn't buy Diablo 4 straight away, either. As much as D3 has improved, I still don't consider it a real ARPG.. So if they market D4 someday as an ARPG, they're going to have to show me they've learned how to make one. ------ By the way, I've yet to see any once source the amount of money they've made from silver despite claims of many millions. Anyone?

  • I have to say D3 was a fantastic PVE game... for a monthish... but the PVP they promised didn't come for about a year and when it did it was a total joke. I believe it still is but I haven't been on in ages.... Just BS brawling in tristram with terrible balance. I always loved fighting outside of town in D2 and they failed to bring that experience over in D3

  • True. But I think Blizzard realized that creating addictive PvE content was their strength, and they decided to focus on making supremely engaging PvE content over PvP. While I also enjoyed the PvP in D2, I can't see why they couldn't just replicate that for D3. It's a mystery to me, but I know I'm having enough fun with D3's PvE right now that I don't miss the PvP too much.

They would have to reduce damage dealt in PvP by 99% or more.. And then when they did that they'd get screwed because nobody could kill something like a support monk who heals for 500 million a second. In essence, they would have to make a box for PvP, and then design specifically for it by forbidding PvE gear and modifying skills. And even if they did that successfully and made Arena type play like they wanted, they still couldn't translate that to PvP in Sanctuary, and that's honestly what most of the complaints I've heard have been - that you can't go out and kill anyone in the world anymore.

  • Yeah the missing PVP is what would've kept it interesting for me. Like I said thought the PVE was great. Just got a little too grindy once you were through hell mode and there wasn't all the extra stuff when I played. Paragon levels and what ever else people are chatting about so it was basically what D2 was in terms of grinding bosses for drops... while waiting for PVP to come... which never did... at least not before I called it quits. Glad they turned it around though.
