The one thing I always wondered about is if all of Crota's disciples wrecked Eris' Fireteam so easily, why weren't all of them there (save for the fist and might) to stop us when we went down to destroy the crystal in the Wakening? We killed the disciples after we banished Crota's soul.

I see it as a situation where likely they fought all, or at least most, of the disciples of Crota at the same time, as it is possible that their entrance into the pit is what caused Crota to unleash them in the first place as there is no reference to any of them before the fireteam went down, and as Kagehoshi notes it is likely as they were in an area where their light was being siphoned off they would have been weakened during that encounter. I too solo'ed all the disciples, except the Raid, but you do fight each one individually and in an area where they do not have any advantage over you except their health/shields and the waves of guys they can send at you. So it is a different situation than that original fireteam experienced.

They fought most of the disciples in the pit where their Light was being drained, so it might be that. As for out of the pit, I get how they could fail to kill Omnigul (she runs away, calls a horde of Hive to defend her, and has lot's of shields and health), but not being able to kill Sardon with a full fireteam of 6 is kind of odd.

And I always soloed the mission, you'd think one Guardian wouldn't be a match for the Hand, Eyes, Heart, and Will of Crota, along with the army of Hive and Ir Yut and the Wakers of Crota, etc.

That just goes to show how amazing/bad ass your guardian is.
