Cozmo can we please for the love of God go back to connection based Match making ... The skilled based is so bad. The lag is beyond a joke ... Every single game is full of red bars.
I've messaged people and they're in South Africa or London and I'm in Australia ... Come on dude.
I love this game but God you guys make it hard to keep playing.
Edit - still nothing from cozmo and nearly 700 replies lol wow.
Edit - nearly 900 replies and still nothing ...
Edit - no cozmo however the weekly update proves the matchmaking algorithm has changed to skill based, instead of changing it back they will attempt to fix the lag. Wow ... Looks like we'll all be coming up against people from all around the world still. What a joke.
They at least could have told us they were going to trial it or something and be honest with us, maybe then people would have just been like "nah it's crap can we go back" instead of being so angry. They sure no how to piss people off.
Edit - 1000 replies and no sign of anyone from bungie, I gotta say I'm very disappointed. Then again I shouldn't be surprised.
Edit - removed montage because I'm apparently 'promoting' myself ... Even though I have like 5 videos on my YouTube account and don't stream or anything lol.

It truly was a strange moment when I was randomly dropped into a Korean? Japan? (not sure) group. No team chat with that one for sure. And I'm a southern girl ya'll.

A milf or tight?

Edited by Twohothardware: 1/13/2016 10:20:16 PMBungie needs to pay attention to how much happier the COD community is with BO3 when Treyarch released it without SBMM and how badly the COD forums exploded in anger when they tried to hotfix SBMM in a few weeks ago right before Christmas. Literally every single new thread that day on the BO3 forums was regarding SBMM. Treyarch listened to the community and quickly patched it back out within 24 hours. The same thing happened during Black Ops 2. Skill based matchmaking does not make the game better. Players want better connections to the player they're playing with. Not skill balanced teams that sacrifices the quality of connections in the process and makes the gameplay far less enjoyable.

-
Every single game has/needs sbmm bo3 definitely has it aswell, however they do not make it the number 1 priority when matching people like this game does
-
Edited by Twohothardware: 1/13/2016 9:28:04 PMBO3 does not use SBMM. BO3 searches for best connections in your region to your closest dedicated server and THEN balances teams after the lobby is already formed even if all those other players are much lower skill than you. Lobby balancing is completely different and it doesn't sacrifice connection quality for skill balancing. It does not do what Bungie's SBMM does which pairs you with players across the country and outside the country as it searches for players that create two teams of near equal combat rating.
-
Lol..... every game has sbmm it's not hard to see either.
-
Exactly. I don't care if my competition is way better or worse than me, I just don't want to rage quit because people are teleporting every match.

It's everyone's fault for asking Skill-based Matchmaking, you got what you asked for!
-
Naw... players want(ed) private match making, that way sweats can 3v3 with friends and you could challenge other clans/ teams... truly testing skill, which would lead to more tourneys and better competition etc. Bungie thought it was smart to go to match ups based on wins instead of connection in trials to promote better competition, but that clearly didn't (doesn't) work... Creating the red bar infestation currently going on. Basically bungie wants to be in control of any competitive pvp (trials being best option atm), they don't wanna give 3rd parties the power or option to promote and capitalize on custom tournaments that would be created (and awesome) cuz they greedy mafuhs.
It's everyone's fault for asking Skill-based Matchmaking, you got what you asked for!
And the people who keep asking for it are also usually dumb enough to understand that SBMM will always have an effect on the connection quality. Unless you have extensive server coverage around the world and servers that only allow you to connect if you meet the requirements (low enough ping and no packet loss), SBMM does not work, it will only ruin the connections and guarantee a frustrating experience. Even if we had these servers, it should still only be applied to ranked playlists so that people can choose a more competetive option instead of being forced into one.
-
No. No one was asking for skill based matchmaking. That's something they decided on their own
-
Edited by Marcheziora: 1/13/2016 5:03:09 PMReally now? I could've sworn I saw a bunch of posts from months ago, asking how much they wanted skill-based matchmaking because they were tired of fighting with noobies and wanted things more "competitive"!
-
Edited by Twohothardware: 1/13/2016 5:40:00 PMIf you did in fact see any posts like that I guarantee it was from a handful of players, not the larger majority of the Destiny community and if players actually want something more competitive than Trials Bungie should be adding ranked playlists and private servers, not SBMM to the public playlists which does absolutely nothing but bring with it all the issues were facing now with the constant lag. SBMM makes the game even less skill focused and more about connection advantages.
-
That was something for trails. Literally no one in normal crucible asked for it.
-
Agreed, NYC based player here and every single game there is at least one absolute red bar. I have started reporting every single red bar I see, my team or enemy team, our of sheer frustration. I would rather fight teams of streamers with +2.0 k/d all day than teams with red bars.
-
Dude same, we live in one of the most populated areas of the world and I can't find other ppl in the tristate area to play with? Lol..
-
Agree. I'm in NYC. Don't know why I need to be facing Japan's finest players. The lag is unreal. Got killed by a nova bomb 3 seconds before he cast it.
-
I agree with you
-
amen I hate whining but this is a legitimate complaint....plus I hate having to full sweaty try hard in EVERY match now. Sometimes I like to go into pvp a little casual
-
Why can't they do both would it be that hard to do ?
-
Edited by Twohothardware: 1/13/2016 4:47:36 PMBecause Bungie is already doing both now and both doesn't work without sacrificing one or the other and right now Bungie is sacrificing connections for greater team balancing. The only way to improve team balancing which they did at the release of Taken King is to lower connection priority so that the matchmaking can pull players from further away to closer balance teams combat rating. SBMM only hurts the game, it doesn't improve it. Players would enjoy Destiny infinitely more playing on more unbalanced teams if it meant their shots actually registering and dieing in the proper number of hits instead of near instantly from guns that take multiple shots. There's way too many issues with red and yellow bar players right now causing you to lose matches not because of skill but because of connection. Treyarch tried adding full SBMM a few weeks ago to Black Ops 3 and they have dedicated servers and the whole COD community exploded forcing them to patch it back out within 24 hours of the hotfix. It was terrible. If you were an above average player it took a very long time to find a match, the lag was exponentially worse because you were no longer being matched to the closest dedicated server with players in that region, and every match was a sweaty with full teams of tryhards headglitching with the only the very best guns/setups. It's not fun due to the increase in lag and it's not fun being forced into using only the top of the meta setups every game just to keep from going negative. Destiny's SBMM is a little more lax than what Treyarch turned on in BO3 because Destiny's focus is more on creating two teams of equal combat rating rather than putting you with and against all players in your skill bracket but it works on the same principles and causes the same issues with connections/lag, especially when player counts are lower and you start getting matched with players across the other side of the continent and halfway around the world.
-
Wow nice response tks I've found if you play against better players it makes you better inn the end couldn't stand crucible at first don't mind it now to be honest
-
Until you get better but are stuck on the crappy team. Then you might mind it a little. Especially when they force you on that team over and over because they are the closest and best connection peeps. I guess they both suck at the end of the day. Maybe investing that over 1 billion they got on some servers may ease that a bit.
