Destiny Standardized Testing

At this time you'll be taking the Math Logic and Reasoning portion of the DST (Destiny Standardized Test). In this portion of the test you'll be examining various situations regarding math and reasoning within "Destiny", the world's first RNG and space-alien simulator all-in-one package. A time slot of 15 minutes is allotted for the given section. No calculator may be used for the duration of the exam. You may begin. 1. The Vanguard Quartermaster sells 20 spinmetal at the cost of 10 legendary marks. Assuming you have 134 marks, what is the greatest amount of spinmetal you could purchase? Answer:
260 spinmetal
2. You have 142 strange coins in your inventory. Xur sells legacy engrams for 31 strange coins. Assuming the chance at receiving Gjallarhorn is 25%, how many coins will you need to spend ON AVERAGE on legacy engrams in order to expect a Ghorn theoretically? (In a theoretical world, where no other factors influence this probability) Answer:
124 coins will be needed. A .25 chance means that 1/.25= 4 attempts are needed, and 4 attempts multiplied by 31 coins per attempt equals 124 coins. In case this seems wrong: in Statistics this is called a geometric distribution. This means we know the odds of success, and we are looking to find the expected amount of trials before success.
3. An engram is a dodecahedron, meaning if you drew a smiley face on each flat surface of it, you would have how many smiley faces staring at Rahool as he decoded it? (Assume he rotates the engram and sees all sides of it) Answer:
12 smiley faces due to 12 flat sides of the engram.
4. You are in a hurry to catch Xur before he leaves on Sunday. However you need 5 more strange coins to purchase the best piece of armor: knucklehead radar. Every crucible game that you play yields 1 strange coin, and each game lasts 8 minutes. You must wait 2 minutes in orbit and matchmaking before the next game starts. Will you be able to catch Xur if you start playing crucible at 11:20 pm on Saturday? (You begin in orbit and Xur leaves at 12:00 am sharp.) Answer:
Sadly no, you will run out of time and have the five coins at 12:10 am. Now you will never see your enemies while aiming down sights :(
5. Your New Monarchy ship has a force of drag acting upon it of 5,000 Newtons. After streamlining the fuselage, the force of drag acting upon it under the same conditions is now 4,500 Newtons. By what percent has the force of drag decreased? Answer:
Decreased by 10%
6. A tracking missile from a Taken Cabal Centurion has a speed of 25 m/s and tracks targets that are visible. It is launched from the Centurion who is 75 meters away from you. Being a hunter, you can crouch to go invisible; however the time from crouching to entering invisibility is 2.5 seconds. Will you be able to go invisible and avoid the missile? Answer:
Yes, the missile will take 3 seconds to travel the given distance, while you only need 2.5 seconds to go invisible.
Please check your answers and comment below. If you desire more tests, please inform the proctor. Thank you. The next test can be found here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/185597158
