What was so bad about the prequels?

I just rewatched the prequels and other than Anakins bad acting and jar jar binks, I didn't really find anything bad about them. The story is good, and the fact that it is cgi instead of practical effects doesn't really ruin the movies for me.

I only hated the overused CGI and script that was kind of cringy sometimes. I thought the story and acting was great

  • You should watch the anti-cheese edits on youtube. They make the movies actually pretty good. Just search "Phantom Menace/Attack of the Clones/Revenge of the Sith Anti-Cheese Edit"

The first movie. They make us watch some bitchy kid whine the whole time, then subject us to some useless-for-plot pod racing scene, and they try to show of the CGI by rаping your eyes with some stupid underwater city and a lot of robots, and then they kill Liam F**king Neeson.

To political and boring. Piss poor acting Over used cgi that looked awful The whole midiclorian thing Bad casting The "Nooooooooo!" At the end of 3 All the additions the the original 3 because the first 3 existed. Ie the "Nooooooo!" Added to episode 6, changing anikins ghost to Hayden in episode 6.

    • Phantom menace. That's why the prequels sucked. Attack of the clones and Revenge of the sith were fine, IMO.

      • The acting, the writing, the direction, the fact that they actually weakened the original trilogy. There's nothing terrible about the prequels, they're just completely average. Terrible would have been better because at least it would have elicited some kind of reaction from me.

      • I personally enjoyed Jar Jar in the first movie, but his appearances in the 2nd and 3rd were completely unnecessary, especially in 3 when he gets like 3 seconds. I can see why people don't like him, but I don't find him that annoying

        • It wasn't that Hayden Christiansen did a bad job acting, it was that nobody could make his lines sound good: "I don't like sand. It's coarse, rough, irritating, and it gets everywhere." "Love can't save you now Padmé. Only my new powers can do that." The lines we just horrible. Or "You're so beautiful." "Probably because I'm so in love." The acting wasn't terrible. George Lucas deciding not to reveal Jar Jar as the ultimate Sith Lord was terrible. The love story was terrible.

            • Poorly written, even for children's films

            • Poorly written script for Anakin, they went the wrong way about it IMO, in terms of Anakin and Padme's story. It should have been written so Anakin's transition to the dark side was through jealousy and mistrust, instead of "oh noes I think u gon die, I need da dark powers" it just made the whole thing cringe worthy; at least the jealousy thing could be real and relatable.

            • Remove Jar Jar and the rather cringeworthy love subplot and you have 3 good Star Wars movies. I particularly like Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson and Samuel L. Jackson in their roles.

              • The script is terrible, its unrealistic and makes the actors come across as robotic and sometimes creepy (even if they are good actors) Nobody in real life talks like the characters in the movies. Another thing is the lack of actual characters and sets. EVERYONE and EVERYTHING is cgi... even the storm troopers. Episodes 4-7 filmed on location, had thousands of extras used models for ships and sets, used puppets and animatronics which came across as a million times more realistic than making EVERYTHING on a computer like the prequels did. Its also just more fun seeing everything in a movie and knowing that their are people inside all of the robots and aliens and knowing that they either filmed on location or created and entire set.

                • I agree they aren't as bad as people make it to be , but one thing I didn't like was the forced romance between Anakin and Padme, and the weird dialogue between them.
