Hello Community! Today I want to discuss Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 with people who've actually played the game. Most of my post strive to be objective, but this one will be subjective, expressing my complete thoughts on the game.
First off, I'm a CoD noob. This was my first CoD and I'm partly through my first prestige and genuinely enjoying myself, sporting around a 1.7 KD (don't know if that's good or bad). And I understand that my noobiness has something to do with me liking the game as much as I do.
What I like about the game
-The Balance.
Some might disagree, but I find the balance in the game to be top notch for a FPS. There's no weapon that is marginally better than all the others and with my background in Destiny, that's a welcomed sight.
-Customization
I always like personalizing my character. And although I view BO3's customization as bare bones, it's better than nothing.
-The fast paced gameplay
Speaks for itself, I love the fast paced gameplay and I find the movement system complements the fast TTK in that it makes for some pretty exciting engagements.
-The Killcam
Again, this is my first CoD, but I believe all games should incorporate a Killcam so the player can see their mistake leading to their death instead of looking at the player who killed them for the next 5 seconds.
What I dislike about the game
-The maps/spawn combo
I understand that in order to get that fast paced feel, the maps have to complement it. But I don't like how you spawn in and can literally die 3 seconds later. When I spawn in, I assume that I'm safe for a grace period, but when the maps are so small, someone can run into you seconds after spawning.
-Hit detection
The hit detection in this game is absolutely awful. This is especially evident when one sees the Killcam; often, players will get hit markers for shots that don't seem to connect.
-They copied Destiny and Titanfall
Please refer to the previous line.
What I absolutely hate about the game
-Specialist
I want to be clear in that I hate the "supers" the specialist have, not the specialist themselves. I hated them in Destiny and I hate them here. I once was told that everytime I die, it's my own fault. However, I can't help it if I get fist of havoc'd...whoops... I mean gravity spiked. There's no gunskill in pressing two buttons and getting that kill.
-Scorestreaks
Let me be clear again, I hate Scorestreaks that net you direct kills (i.e. Wraith, Talon, Cerberus, Guardian, Hailstorm, motherships etc not the non-lethal Scorestreaks like the UAV.) for the same reason I hate Specialist and Supers. There's no skill in pressing a button and letting the CPU get you a kill. My main thing in Gunskill, I want the reason I died is because you beat me in the engagement, not because you got enough kills to get more free kills.
Conclusion
As I said, this is my first CoD and I like it, but I recognize its flaws. I'm very curious to know how others feel about the game, especially the veterans who've been playing for a number of years.

Better than Ghosts and AW but not as good as MW2 or Blops 2. (IMHO)

!!!OPINION INBOUND!!! Once CoD started to introduce currencies, it began to lose its touch. The great aspects of all CoDs before BO1 (-blam!-ing hated that game) was that they were SIMPLE. I could hop on with friends, choose whatever gun I was a high enough level to use and play with it, and be able to easily get attachments and camouflages as you wish. You also didn't get punished by how many attachments you wanted on your gun, or how many grenades you had, or even what perks you wanted; it was SIMPLE. The CoDs now limit what you can get per prestige, purposely trying to extend your play time just to sell you more micro transactions and DLCs. That's why I don't like COD anymore

I had to get used to how fast paced the game was compared to Blops 2 since I didn't play Advanced Warfare. Plus I don't like most of the maps. Otherwise I really enjoy the game.

So far I like it, balanced guns, fluid gameplay, gun variety, and the supers aren't tide turning, like in density, to me, it feels like black ops 2 and advanced warfare had a baby, slower paced then AW, but still fast paced, balanced gunplay, and good maps, like BO2

I like the story mode so far. Its pretty good and I'm so happy they brought back custom loadouts. And from what I can tell the game is coop. But I haven't tried out anything else.

I love it. Been working on dark matter after that, will work on hero.

6 RepliesSorry to burst your bubble there mate but weapons aren't balanced at all. Shieva is a 2 shot kill, otherwise it's M8's, Vespers, VMPs. Pubs may be different but in Arena, those are the guns which are overused, so no, no cod will ever have weapon balancing.
I'll list some examples from memory; Black Ops 2 - MSMC & AN-94. Advanced Warfare; BAL-27 (Obsidian Steed) & ASM1. Ghosts; Vector & Remington R5. MW2; ACR & UMP 45.
Best CoD since CoD 4. Seriously.

Here's the thing, alotta hate out there for anything "cod". There is also alotta love(they are too afraid/tired to speak up). The k/d rate matters nothing. You having fun? You enjoy it? That's what matters. Oh, I love it, plenty of content, runs great.

Lmao killstreaks are what make cod, cod, they won't be going anywhere any time soon. Specialists aren't that bad, I actually think they did a great job with them, I never find myself raging at the specialists (except the gravity spikes every now and then). I haven't had too many hit detection problems surprisingly, but I almost always do and I'm sure it'll get bad at some point for me (like it does for most people), so I completely agree with that. Overall I think it's a great game. It's not the best, but it's not bad, it'll be good enough to keep me entertained until the next one comes out. As for competitive, I don't follow it too much anymore, so I don't really have anything to say. I've played a little arena on my second account (about 30 games) and I just didn't like it as much as I liked league play in BO2, so I haven't bothered with it, maybe I'll give it another go in a month or two.

1 ReplySpawns suck worse than any CoD, weapon balance is surprisingly really good, specialists are a meh system in general, maps are really good.
even if only 3maps ever show up
They credited bungie for helping them with advice and tips.
-
Why isn't there a no specialist gametype? For some reason, I always feel pressured to choose one. There should also be one with only specialist lethal, for fun.
-
I play hardcore search and hardcore tdm. You should try those out for a little change

Edited by GameBroJeremy: 1/1/2016 5:28:50 AMI only bought it for the Zombies. I'm certain I am not the only one.
-
8 RepliesSo? I don't care if there is no skill involved.

Eh, some of the specialists require some kind of planning or knowledge to use effectively because there's no health boosts while activating them or using them. I've been killed a decent amount of times trying to use the gravity spikes
