Christianity didn't come into existence until after Jesus' death (I'll let someone else debate the existence of his miracles). I'll throw an estimation of about 150 AD but some history book's probably got a more accurate number.
Anyway, Bible has been revised many times since its inception, so maybe there's something missing in the tale. I don't trust the King James version very much, but it's the one everyone cites.

Revised? A lot of stuff in the Bible was taken from Sumerian myths. Flood, creation etc. Who most likely got the myths from another culture. 10,000 years of the telephone game. The Gilgamesh story is almost the same stories as the old Testament, just a thousand years earlier is all.

Sumerians have been said to be Hebrew people which in that since having the same stories as Genesis doesn't disregard the bible, because they are pretty much the same people at least according to what the bible says about Hebrews. Supposedly Sumerians are the originators of these stories but that's not necessarily true since some say it's Egyptians so eh.

I can't say the extent of revisions, but historical influence of the church (and translations, and different editions) seem to point to revisions, light or heavy. No revisions seem to have occured in the last 396 years, however.

From my knowledge the extent of changes came in a matter of doctrinal belief. Like there were many books destroyed because once Rome took it up as their religion if it was not basically the books you see today it was considered a heresy to have and you would be killed. However for the most part the bible you have today is pretty darn close to what existed in the bc time period according to what was found in the Dead Sea scrolls but there are changes. Heck there are text that can not be translated
