Yeah, the blast radius of the hammers are a -blam!-ing joke in its current state. I made a 5min video showing clips of how weak the hammers have become and how inconsistent they are. You think I'm bullshiting? Just watch the video and you will see what I'm talking about. This is not me crying, I want CONSISTENT! If i hit someone with a hammer I want a kill in return, I wanted to be rewarded for being accurate not punished. Just make the Blast radius of the hammer i bit bigger and it will solve itself.

For the people saying: "Golden Gun has no blast radius and kills on impact, so HoS needs to kill on impact too".
Difference between HoS and GG:
GG: insta-kill lazer beam with a big ass hitbox (almost impossible to miss) in 1st person (very easy to aim) with 0 travel time and unlimited range (in PvP)
HoS: Has travel time (which was increased with 2.1), effected by gravity, doesn't go in a straight line, 3rd person aim (which can be very awkward)
HoS works basicly like a rocket, you can get as accurate as you can with them. Do you expect from a rocket to kill someone only if it directly impacts them? I'm not saying that the hammers should have the same power as a rocket (not by a longshot), but when I throw a hammer right next to/in front of the enemy I except to get a kill. Not to mention that it is almost impossible to hit a player who uses blink/shadestep/twilight garrison. So yeah we need a little blast radius buff to make this super CONSISTENT again, because right now its the most inconsistent super in the game along with arcblade.
And even when you land a DIRECT hit, it fails to kill the player which is very sad. Clink link below for another clip of how inconsistent the super is:

Just making a point. The lag going on because of SRL, has caused huge issues. I have fired shots with golden gun that don't register or only cause half damage. My suggestion is to wait on buffing this after SRL ends. Just being honest, you may be experiencing all green bars but the game itself, on destiny's end is bogged down. I say this because I am being OHK'd by HOS, without issue. Only a couple of times have I actually walked away from it. And I was as surprised as he was.

3 RepliesI definitely get the concepts and complaints your bringing up. The reality is? Their should ideally be a grace period to help people with impending nerf contributions to get used to those mechanics because, as you pointed out, the 20% blast radius reduction? That's a lot. It's 1/5th of the entire radius. 25% less tracking? 1/4 less. As much as I'd like to see things reversed (I play all three classes) the simple reality is Bungie puts those things in working order based on mathematics which directly control or contribute to the Titan, Hunter, and Warlock tree's for all abilities. It's not as simple to remove any one element and not have it impact another. That's how the Xbox and computers work. If you change parameters? You will typically find some form of an unexpected consequence. This is why it is ideal for a grace period to be present. But don't worry too much about it. We learned to use blade dancer and voidwalker and strikers when we knew nothing about them at all in the beginning... we can learn about these nerfs. It just takes time and practice is all.

Basically what happens is if you toss a hammer it can occasionally detonate before it hits a player. The result is the player lives even though the hammer was aimed correctly. The fix to that is simple and wouldn't result in the hammer being op again. Reduce the area for prox det, but keep the current blast radius. Hammers would only detonate close enough for a confirmed kill every time. But you'd still have to land nearly direct hits and not just be in the general area. This would fix the problem and not break the subclass.

Lol at everybody saying its because you weren't accurate. You can clearly see the hammer blow up on the person you are trying to kill and they take no damage. People just don't want Sunbreaker to be a viable option anymore I guess

Your vid was just a repeat for 3 uses of HoS...it's didn't really show anything except that you can't aim.. The first one you hit around the guy like every shot.. More then likely he was using when you take solar splash your health regen.. So that's why his shield didn't drop all the way... Actually an effective strategy against hammer bros.. The 2nd vid you missed every shot.. It hit around him and never touched.. You shouldn't be rewarded with a kill if you don't hit the enemy.. If you splashed him like 5 times sure have a kill.. But most of those hammers didn't even splash hit him And the 3rd one.. You hammer hit the floor that was sticking out.. Those things have a messed up hitbox... I agree you should of got the kill there. But it's bungies using crap terrain that took it away from you not the hammers it's self..

Edited by OJ191: 12/26/2015 6:37:43 PMI like being able to actually dodge hammers now without abusing blink, but I agree it makes it inconsistent as -blam!- at times. that said, try actually aiming at them instead of trying to cheese it with the (no longer massive) blast radius. edit: the hunter hammer hit the ledge in front, not the stairs themselves. You're lucky it even did 5 damage that far out. Warlock hammers missed by almost an entire meter each. Second hunter you can't even see the exact location of the hit compared to where the hunter is, as the tether is in the way and then you fall down behind the wall. No shit it would have killed before the nerf, the AoE was ludicrous. Sorry but missing my a meter laterally, some vertical distance, and god knows how far behind or in front (not much I think), is not a hit. You didn't predict his move, in fact you failed to predict his move, because you aimed for where he was instead of where he was going to be. By the way it's actually easier to hit a target in the air (unless they are twilight garrison titan) because the easiest way to dodge is to... JUMP OR BLINK (or shadestep which you cant do in the air). Once you are in the air you are a sitting duck, your only option is to drop - or in the case of a hunter you can do your second jump but usually a single jump won't be high enough to save you even with the nerfed blast radius. No seriously try actually waiting until they commit to the jump and then AIMING instead of panic throwing. Throw a hammer to force a jump if they aren't biting but don't spam. PS: No it doesn't have to direct impact, I've definitely still been killed by near(er) misses.

Learn to aim you scrub. You got too used to getting easy kills when you didn't even have to hit someone for a kill.
