I may be in the minority but I hope they don't do this.
Other than an extremely small handful of my year 1 legendaries (raid weapons, broken OP rolls on PVP weapons like BTRD and Matador) I dismantled everything for motes of light to rank up factions.
I wouldn't have gotten rid of some of those weapons had I been told before hand that I would be able to upgrade one of them at some point.
Also, if they allow us to upgrade year 1 legendary weapons.. we could find the most broken year 1 weapon, reforge it for perfect perks (because motes drop like candy now) and then upgrade it to year 2 levels. That seems like it would be an issue.

Edited by xJer3me: 12/17/2015 4:46:05 PMYour reasoning is a bit selfish, to be completely honest. Furthermore, you'd still have the option to purchase legacy engrams with a chance at obtaining Y1 weapons that you've since lost. Also... options! Who doesn't want more in-game options!? Haha Reforging of weapons isn't part of my suggestion once they enter the Year 2 realm, so it wouldn't be available. Either way, I never did mind the reforging of weapons and quite liked it. Crucible will always feel broken IMO, until Bungie finally separates PvP and PvE weapon and armor values.

Edited by Tower0426: 12/17/2015 5:08:30 PMI don't think my reasoning is selfish at all, I'm sure the vast majority of players have moved on from their year 1 weapons. As for reforging, you can reforge them now. If I found out I could upgrade my year 1 legendaries to year 2 values.. First thing I would do is hit up the gunsmith. I would reforge my favorite weapon until it was perfect because I have an overflow of motes. Think of a year 1 hopscotch pilgrim or spare change with perfect rolls.. No one wants to see that. I do think it makes sense to allow us to be able to bring our favorite raid weapons up to year 2 values though.

Edited by xJer3me: 12/19/2015 3:23:15 AMThere isn't anything wrong with people upgrading a vaulted Hopscotch Pilgrim though, that pulse type has since been nerfed, and PvP already currently consist of primarily 1K Yard Stares, TLW's, Hawksaw's, and Party Crasher's anyway.... what I'm saying is... PvP (& PvE) could benefit from some variety. The weapon pool desperately needs to be widened, and Year 1 weapons already exist, they just need a method for upgrading.

Your still ignoring the fact there are alot of weapons with broken op rolls. This is why they won't let them move forward unless this new system gives your weapon a random roll when it gets brought over to year 2 (unless it never got re-rolled in the first place)

That's not a fact, just your opinion. If individuals like you had it your way we'd all share the same loadouts with no variety, Halo 2 style. Which is a problem in the game at the moment. Everyone uses the same weapons and its been that way since year one. There really has never been a solid balance. Which is fine, but don't ban weapons because others feel they are OP. That's ignorant. I'm exhausted from so many stating that everything (weapons and supers alike) are OP. It's getting old. Ugh
