I recently talked to a friend who likes to play Mobas.
He brought a system to my attention, that is used in LoL.
They call it the PBE (public beta environment).
It's a system in which you basically play the same game as usually, but with some changes the devs want to implement/gather feedback about, before it makes it to the real game.
When the devs want to implement bug fixes, change some balancing variables, add new mechanics etc...
They test those changes on the PBE and ask for player feedback to gather data.
The PBE is an environment in which real players play against each other and can test some supposed changes.
A lot of the changes in the PBE will also never make it to the Live game, as it's simply meant to test different possibilities.
I never understood why a game like Destiny, with an ever evolving metagame, doesn't make use of a similar system.
It's obviously too late to expect that for Destiny 1.
But what about Destiny 2?

This is an awesome idea

This is also common in MMOs. Everquest, DAoC, and I think WoW had test servers.

Love this idea. It could be a little harder to implement with destiny though. Maybe destiny 2 will have something like this.

Edited by Atomsk: 12/16/2015 8:51:03 AMThe game we have now is the PTS (public test server). Sure it would be nice to have two separate ones but this is bungie, they don't know what they are doing.
