really i need help on this one:
everytime i drive trough the goal for example as third place every time an other player gets through it i get ranked down one place i don´t think that´s quite fair

I've noticed this as well both in gaining and losing positions after the finish. It's a little frustrating to battle hard to the finish to mysteriously gain or lose position. It takes away from an amazing experience.

Your place is based on your overall time and not what place you are in when you cross the finish line on the 3rd lap. If you were lagging behind everyone else the majority of the match, you could be in 1st position when you cross the line and still not get 1st place overall.

That would be really weird to judge races like that... average position shouldn't matter, just the order you finish...

It's not average, it's total time combined from all 3 laps.

Because you could be in last place the whole race, 10 seconds behind the whole group, then take first at the last second by taking shortcuts and hitting not every boost gate, and your time would be still more than the person who was in first the whole race right up to the last second. He would take first." Even though he came in 2nd by a hair.

That doesn't make sense. If you all start at the same time then the first to the finish should always have the shortest total race time... I wonder if some if this is because of the distributed nature of the game. Your console showed you as something but the game does a final check if everyone's total ginal times and ranks placing according. .. think of ut as 6 loosely-synchronized simulations running in parallel. They may diverge a little so you check final times at the end. Just a guess of course...

Me too, every race that I finish I get bump down 2-3 places on the final ranking. Once on Venus I finished first and got bumped to last after the other players crossed the finish line. This damn glitch is making the quests quite hard to complete. Fix it Bungie.

Yeah have it too, was all rounds on 1st place and other racers get 1st place and i was in goal
