With the sunbreaker nerf right around the corner i feel like a a couple of things must be said.
All throughout year one, the Defender titan has been the dogs bollocks for PVE but the Titan didn't have much going for it on the competitive stage. I have many fond memories of slapping that Armamentarium on and wreaking havoc with lightning grenades and cursing with frustration when a foe would simply walk away from the magnet grenades second killing pulse relatively unscathed. The striker titan was not a prudent super to use in any way shape or form. It forced you to get far too close for comfort and on a good day, you might get 2 or 3 kills with it. this was fine, however, when the warlock had what was essentially a ranged form of the titan smash that reduced the risk of being taken down by a mere punch or shotgun blast, i felt like i was getting shafted. Im a fairly decent PVP player and never relied too much on my super untill Trials of osiris came around and wiping a team out in one fell swoop felt to beast. But still, golden fun, blade dancer, and nova bomb where still rocking the scene as the most powerful supers.
Along comes year 2
FINALLY. the sunbreaker was a welcome relief as titans finally had a subclass with decent grenades, a competent melee and one of the most fun supers to use in the game. in pve, it is simply beautiful to watch as one hammer smashes into a group of thrall and starts a chain reaction, wiping out the whole room. I thought id make brand new characters and grab those other supers and they where -blam!-ing awesome too. Then i went into PVP. the first thing i noticed was not how op the sunbreaker was, but 2 other things; 1] That hunters smoke grenade is a massive pain in the ass and 2] the storm caller had a perk called 'LANDFALL'. Landfall was a perk for the stormcaller that basically gave the super an added effect that closely resembles a titan smash. and when i say 'resembles' i mean 'EXACTLY THE -blam!-ING SAME'. it wasn't much of a problem since i mostly used sunbreaker for the benefit of fusion grenades but then this nerf came along. Titans have once again been thrown into the recycling bin and the hunter and warlock remain untouched. now don't get me wrong, the nerf was needed, however, most of us where expecting smaller explosions and weaker armor but no, Bungie have touched every single perk that makes the super a super. The class has been stripped down and made pitiful simply to appease those who complained that it was OP simply because they where killed by it on more than one occasion and the Titans compensation is a 12.5% increase to the melee range and slight buffs to the other classes that are negligible at best, downright insulting at the least. Bungie don't seem to realize that it is not the range of the titans punch that makes it weak, it's the fact that it simply does significantly less damage than the other classes .
My main issue is not the awful nerf, but the fact that the other subclasses remain untouched and will now rock the crucible as they did in year one and titans will flee from crucible once again because Bungie have no REAL concept of what a balanced game environment really is.
TL:DR. Nerf slightly unreasonable. 12.5% range melee buff unacceptable
Landfall = fist of havoc
Bungie, stop hating titans, nerf the other classes [EG, hunters smoke slows OR harms, not both]
If you took the time to read this, thank you for very much
PS. BUNGIE, FIX THE FACT THAT THE WORSE YOUR CONNECTION, THE MORE GODLIKE YOU BECOME!

From day 1 Titans got their ass kicked in the crucible. When we finally got a class that could match the Hunters and Warlocks and make them run for a change it gets nerfed instantly. This is bullshit. Its more bullshit that Titans were the only ones to get nerfed. Every other class had a ranged special that could do a shit ton of damage and keep them out of harms way. Those never got nerfed. Then you had the Warlock revive and the Hunters knife. Titans had nothing going for them since our only offensive special made us pull a Leroy Jenkins every single time, and our defensive pretty much made us a sitting target for anyone else who aimed a special our way. Yet again, none of those ever got nerfed. People complaining that the titan was now overpowered were just pissed off that they finally stood a fair chance in pvp. I play rarely now. Simply because my friends do Bungie has no concept of what a good pvp game is.

Buff every subclass to same power level so all the classes will be in the same page

1 Replyno tank class should ever have such a dominant ranged attack or a ranged attack at all in my opinion. If you want all the armour and want to tank damage then you loose ranged damage. its only fair. Otherwise you become a walking fortress raining down missiles of death everywhere. its only fair. range dominant classes forgo protection. You cant have have a ranged class with the armour of a tank its unbalanced. If it was up to me, and I think my idea may be very unpopular would be to increase the armour substantially of the sunbreaker while in super, literally make the titan a walking tank but remove the ability to throw the hammers, more like a lunging upper cut or smash, keep the sun spots. the increase in armour would balance out the agility a bladedancer gains. and while in super the sunbreaker buffs allies agility, recovery or whatever even maybe weapon handling. that's my opinion anyway.....don't know if many would agree

1 Replywe should have gotten a 20% melee rage buff . We were SUPPOSE to be the ooooh look a close range victim class. But we are not.
-
5 RepliesYou forgot about the class specific weapons. A terrible exotic AR and a shotgun with a specific perk that only works with a specific subclass using a specific perk after casting the super!?
-
2 RepliesI'd amend that with "stop screwing over PvE". The changes seem fair to me as far as Crucible goes (then again I don't play it much so take that with a pot of salt), for PvE, wtf bungie ? Thx for making my main basically unplayable. Even though I haven't logged on in over a month.

If only Bungie could read AND comprehend common sense.
-
How about an option for, "everything is fine right now"
-
I'm sorry but it did need at least a 5% health nerf and the cauterize cool down.
-
1 ReplyI agree with the reduction in armor but the cauterize nerf and flame seeker nerf was kinda unnecessary. But at least the other two Titan subclasses got a buff :)
-
i was ok with the armor nerf for sunbreakers but the rest wasnt needed i guess ill have to try it and see

Had an idea for a defender titan that would not necessarily alter current gameplay, but would add more offensive/tanking qualities to the defender class. When someone pops ward of dawn, instead of gaining a bubble shield, the defender titan should gain a huge round shield, similar to a Spartan (a greek spartan, not Halo Spartan's). This shield will have a duration of 50 seconds (similar to ward of dawn) with bastion. The shield can be used to bash targets to do damage and/or stun enemies in their tracks, making them easier for fireteam members. Alternatively, holding LT on the control will allow the defender to hold the shield in front of him, shielding himself from all incoming fire coming from that direction until the super bar runs out (again, 50 seconds). This could be a second node on the skill tree. The titan can move, albiet at a slow rate, and the titan will be locked from turning left or right while the shield is deployed (essentially, locking the shield facing in 1 direction for maximum directional protection). The final node on the tree would cause the titan to kneel down with the shield infront of him. However, rather than protecting only himself with the shield (or fireteam members behind him), doing so will create a bubble similar to aetheon's relic bubble. Titan is immoble and must stay in the bubble, but the bubble lasts the duration of the super so long as the titan doesn't move. Weapons/blessings of light can be chosen separately, or maybe combined for a universal buff node. Helm of St. 14 will still provide blinding effect, but will also suppress all special abilities, including supers. The main goal of the defender titan, with regards to super cancellation, should be to use the shield to totally negate super use from other opponents, but the encounter should leave both guardians unharmed from the super. This makes it so that the defender titans super can cancel any other super in the game (possibly with the exception of a tether from a nightstalker, which will suppress the titan's super ability momentarily, but will not, alone, kill the titan). Essentially, the Defender titan's super should force guardians into more traditional encounters to be fought with weapons, not supers. I'm sure it needs some tweaking, but it would definitely make the defender titan more useful in PVP, have more offensive abilities, but still maintain its traditional role in PVE.

Spot on bud but you can forget the connection situation when they decided to be cheap ass mofo's and forgo server farms and went for P2P, like wtf its not like we are talking about a game that is completely online so its not like connection situations could be problematic or something, right? RIGHT ???
-
1 ReplyBuffing striker and defender is screwing them over? Oh, ok...
-
9 RepliesWhat the hell are you talking about? A tiny nerf to the Hammer of Sol and wholesale buffs to the arc and void trees were made.
-
5 RepliesOmg u titans think too much of yourselves. The SB is still going to be op, u will officially be the fastest class, netter melee range and power. If that's not enough for u then just quit destiny. Hunters get nerfed every patch so get used to it.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Additionally, decreasing the time of the solar super, what about the stormcaller perk that doubles their super time with a charged melee and grenade. I would bet it last atleast 10 seconds and can kill entire teams. Then the K/D between classes, they say they all land between 0.96-1.06. That puts a character average around 1.0 for all classes, yet the titans have 2 classes closer to 0.8 and one up at 1.16 or 1.19? That still puts a Titan K/D average below 0.96 as a character... The math is there, Bungie is killing the titans. I finally thought the solar titan brought titans to where they were suppose to be as a character. I guess it was a fun 3 months..

Two things: 1) Technically, there was a nerf to Bladedancers prior to TTK. Not defending a possible Hunter nerf, just stating facts. 2) Agreed with the rest. Good post.
