This is a legitimate question and maybe I am just too thick headed to understand this which is completely possible. I do not (personally) understand why companies protect those that cheat/hack/ruin games with the NO NAME/SHAME rulings.
That being said, I notice many a forum mentor or helper literally chide those that do post either videos demonstrating cheating for naming and shaming OR people that actually post user names of people who have hacked etc. It is perfectly fine evidently for someone else to come on the forum and try to 'innocently' state that they did not cheat and then for them to be shamed which is odd, but if a true innocent person posts something about a person who is cheating in the game they have to get ready to put the flame suit on for the anti-name/shame post that is coming plus usually deletion of the user name from the post.
So I looked over the Code of Conduct multiple times today because I was truly curious as to what Bungie's policy was on this. There is NOTHING in the policy stating that name/shame is not allowed on the forums. Yes there is a blanket statement waring against Personal attacks, harassment, or violations of privacy. But no where in name/shame do you personally attack a person, harass or violate their privacy as privacy on this forum is non-existent especially since anyone can search for anyone (not to mention all the third party sites that datamine from Bungie's account servers - DestinyStatus, DestinyTracker, etc. etc.). Especially if you ever took the time to read Bungie's Privacy Agreement, in essence it states that once you register for this site and/or link your accounts to the registration, expectation of privacy is null and void (as they reserve the right to access your friends, statuses, etc. etc.).
So I was curious as to how other companies/games handle this no naming and shaming on their forums and specifically in their rules of their forums they state things such as:
Battlefield Forums (BF3, BF4, BFH):
Naming and Shaming
Naming and shaming those who you believe to be cheating is not permitted on the forum or Battlelog posts. It is not productive and does not expedite action taken against these players. Any references of this type will be removed. Instead, Report players directly for investigation.
Call of Duty (COD4, MW2, MW3, BO1, BO2, GH, AW):
All reports, for users who violate the Call of Duty Security & Enforcement Policy, are to be handled in-game. As a result, all in-game related reports are considered prohibited.
So in no way is this meant to be inflammatory, but I am not sure that the Mentors/Helpers have even truly looked into the Code of Conduct in depth. In reality, there is NOTHING in it that states name/shame violates terms of use. Even in Deej's Post on the main forum there is no mention of name/shame.
So I am just curious how the community feels about this, if there is no policy against this directly, why is it always stated that there is? Assumption of a rule does not a rule make.

the no name and shame policies that games use pretty much stops them from being sued by someone who was publicly humiliated.
