I feel like Shoulder Charge should have just been the Titan Melee
-
Is a wonderful and pretty powerful ability, but the charge-up time (the run) kept it from being completely OP. The start of extremely high range shotguns neutered it. Being on both sides, as charger and ... chargee, I guess, I can say with confidence that you're highly likely to get shotgunned in the face when using it. Before the days of the Fellwinter's shotgun builds you had an even chance of pulling it off. Either way, I'm talking about straight-up melee.
-
Tip: Titan skating will help activate shoulder charge a little faster, then just keep running when you hit your feet
-
I don't really notice the difference in time to build it. But, The difference in how long you can hold onto it feels pretty significant.
-
Yea I guess you do just cover ground a lot faster
-
Isn't that the case with all melee attacks? Being in range to hit with thunder strike or blink strike (shoulder charge) will put you in range to get dropped by a shotgun.
-
... The shoulder charge has a charge up time. You have to run at your target in a relatively straight line. It is not equivalent to a melee attack.
-
Its a OHK Melee isnt. I will gladly give you blinkstrike in exchange for Shouldercharge.
-
They're not the same thing. Shoulder charge is not a titan's melee. It'd be equivalent to going invisible, not blink strike.
-
Dont be a little bitch. You have an awesome attack that more than makes up for your Trex arms. Typical... But I want it all!
-
The t&bs have cool downs (what strength on your gear charges). You also have to be facing your target with both. I'm not trying to be argumentative, just saying a longer range melee exists for titans.

Edited by xZx Flames: 12/2/2015 5:35:15 PMYou have to have a build for shoulder charge (striker specific) and you have to be conscious about using it. Not all close range engagements happen after a player has been running for a period of time and more specifically, within the time frame that allows you to use shoulder charge. Shoulder charge is not effected by your strength stat. Although it is a melee attack (by description), it is not the same as your melee ability.
-
The shoulder charge isn't a standard melee attack, or the special melee attack, of a striker. It's a completely separate ability. It's equivalent to a hunter's invisibility. You cannot shoulder charge from a standstill. You have to build up to a run and maintain that run for almost 3 seconds. You can't shotgun/shoulder charge the way you can shotgun/melee. A melee attack is what happens when you press the melee button. Hunters stab, warlocks force push, and titans punch. It can be done on the run, at a standstill, while jumping and immediately after changing direction. Whether or not they have their melee special charged (throwing knife/blink strike/disintegrate, etc.), the titan's melee range is significantly shorter than the other classes'.
-
Yes... because you get to OHK with a very special shoulder charge that everyone else wishes they had. In the Air! With special boots to OHK Sunbros! -blam!- you and your greedy -blam!-ing bullshit! Be -blam!-ing happy you have a badass OHK charge attack!

Edited by xZx Flames: 12/2/2015 5:37:27 PMYou really aren't getting his point. Shoulder charge is a separate ability from your melee. It can be used whether or not you have a melee charge availible, and it's cool down is not effected by your strength stat. OP is exactly right, it is similar to a hunters ability to go invisible or the night stalkers shade step. I play all three classes avidly. The only class I never go for a strength build in PVP is titan. Why? Because they have t-rex arms. So many times I have died trying to use my melee that I would have hit with any other class. I typically avoid using it when on my titan for that reason. Defenders have no back up plans, but with the upcoming range nerf to shotguns, that build is going to be much less viable. It is sad that a class that is suppose to be the melee class has the worst melee range. (Note that storm fist also does less damage than scorch.) Yes, shoulder charge is great, but you have to be conscious about use it. Not all close range engagements allow me to run for a period of time before they occur. Go into the crucible in the current META and attempt to shoulder charge. I can assure you the majority of the time you will die before you manage to get the kill. Only time I die by it is when I am caught off guard, in those cases, a shotgun would have killed me anyway. Most people use it just to gain speed for skating.

You're talking about an ABILITY that exists on a single subclass. I'm quite happy with it, actually. I'm talking about a class-wide attack. Sunbreaker (yes, they're super is very powerful. Irrelevant to the conversation) and defender are 2 other COMPLETELY different subclasses. Either way, as I said in another reply, I'm not calling for a rebalancing or buff to the class. I'd gladly use an exotic slot.
-
Fine.. i want an exotic that gives me Shoulder charge.
-
I'd have no problem with it, so long as you couldn't carry blink (not blinks strike, blink) with it. Perfectly acceptable.
-
Blink into SC? That'd be sexy. Stop trying to have all the fun yourself.
-
There's a reason I didn't say titans should get access to blink. Now THAT would be broken. A lot of fun, but broken.
-
Not really... Titans got blink nerfed awhile back. Dicks
