SO the new raid, this is about that. I know most people are drooling and screaming its praise to the sky; but I have another opinion. Yes, everyone plays an important role. Yes, its a challenge. Yes, it is very arbitrary. Some neat puzzles for every other boss would be interesting, BUT to make each boss require a different type of strategy and to hinge on everyone in your fire-team performing wonderfully is not that awesome. And every puzzle is well done; but arbitrarily long, overly complicated and done just to stretch out the raid. There's no Crota fun run, No Vault slaying the legions, every tired step of this raid is the oracles meets Templar and they decide to copy notes from the death-singer.
Each boss has an auto kill threshold. Each boss is invincible until you
Get in a bubble (Atheon much?)
Stand in 'reclaimed light' (think smaller Atheon bubble that's harder to get)
Break a shield in a pair (Templar saying hello)
ETC.
I do not find this rehashing clever. The puzzles are either simple or hard, and either one requires that people don't make mistakes. Granted one or two can happen and you can pull through but any more and you're in for a bad time. Loot drops are ABYSMAL. One or two people will pull something good/raid related per boss, if you are lucky. And as a support player, expect to get nothing but the hose. Now, The raid is interesting, and when you beat a boss you get the sense of accomplishment; but you also get a crushing sense of 'whats next?'. And the feeling of accomplishment dulls as soon as you realize the next boss is also tricked out to take a while to beat just because. That isnt fun, its kind of annoying and makes me want to run the raid as little as possible. Hard mode with no revives? I wish you all the best of luck. I know I can dig through the mountain guys, but when all Bungie throws you is a spoon on a stick for tools; I for one say no thank you.
