We as guardians are no different than Oryx
Verse 5:9 — I'll Make Sure. I have made preparations. If I am defeated I know it will be because my understanding of the universe was incomplete. I failed to anticipate some strategy, some nemesis. (Perhaps Taox, if she still lives.) If I am defeated, I know that I will fall to something mighty. Something that craves might, something that loves what I love, which is the Deep, a principle and a power, the versatile, protean need to adapt and endure, to reach out and shape the universe entirely for that purpose, to mutate and redesign and test and iterate so that it can prevail, can seize existence and hold it, certain that this is everything, that there is nothing to life except living. And it has two faces, yet it is one shape. One face is the objective, which is obvious, and the other face is that will to sacrifice things and ideas for a single mission, the mission of becoming the shape, a shape that will not relent, the utter commitment to survival, to draw the right sword and choose where to cut: to allow this hunger to become your weapon. So I will prepare a book, which is a map to a weapon. And my vanquisher will read that book, seeking the weapon, and they will come to understand me, where I have been and where I was going. And then they will take up my weapon, and they will use it, they will use that weapon, which is all that I am. And armed thus with my past, and my future, and my present (which is a weapon, a weapon that takes whatever is available, a weapon bound to malice), they will mantle me, Oryx, the Taken King. They will become me and I will become them, each of us defeating the other, correcting the other, alloying ourselves into one omnipotent philosophy. Thus I will live forever. I’ll make sure. - See more at: http://destiny-grimoire.info/#Card-700660
We as a guardian follow the same sword logic as Oryx, conquest. We proved this with the defeat of Atheon, with the death of Crota, and the capture of Skolas. We proved this to Oryx as we defeated his echos, defeated him in the material world, defeated his court, and finally defeated him by using his own strength. His worm granted him immortality in return for food. This food for Oryx was his Sword Logic, conquest. For his sister Savathûn it was cunning. For his brother Xivu Arath it was the blood of war. We as a guardian are rewarded light for our conquest over the darkness, we consume the light of those we slay to fuel ourselves, we take their light and make it our own. We as a guardian are immortal as long as our ghost has enough food to bring us back. The worm and the ghost are one in the same, but serve different queens. The worm serves the queen of the depth while the ghost serves the queen of the sky. They offer those that listen to their whispers immortality in return for following their one request, sword logic. The ghost and the worm give power to those that feed them, but require more food to sustain their powers or the user will be consumed by their own power. The worm and the ghost are not immortal that is why they must hide like a parasite inside their host slowly feeding until the host is consumed and they both die. The only way to be free of the feeding is to kill the worm/ghost, but freeing oneself from the parasite removes the gifts/power the parasite brought with it. For a guardian the death of their ghost removes their light, and makes them as weak as those that cower in the city. For the hive it takes away their immortality, and brings them back to their decade long life span. The worm and the ghost are merely puppets of their queens, one in the same, but on different sides of the aisle. The ghost/worm attach themselves to a being to make them a tool of the queens. Oryx was the might of the queen of the depth, lead by the worm Eir. We are the might of the queen of the sky, lead by the ghost Nolandroid. We have no power over our actions just like Oryx did. We merely serve a higher purpose, the purpose of the queens. This is our Destiny as long as we house the parasite. Oryx realized that we shared the same goal as he did, but were separated by a will we could not control. In his final moments he witnessed as the queen of the sky, for the first time in hundred of thousands of years, bested the queen of the depth. With this his final goal was to enlighten the guardian. We have merged with him with the enlightenment of the book of sorrow, and with his weapon, our weapon, the Touch of Malice. All Oryx wanted was to lay out the map of the universe, and he still can as he now lives on inside us. He has shaped us guardians into something stronger, much stronger than we ever realized. He has sharpened our sword logic to an edge that no enemy can survive. Now we as guardians must decide if we want to accept our sword logic, and become one with Oryx, or resent it and set our own sword logic our own fate.

 • One thing in this that i have to say is that Oryx wasn't a being of conquest but a being of discovery, of curiosity. The rest of what you mentioned could be quite true. However I honestly think that "becoming one with Oryx" could mean something other than the Touch of Malice
