My current list of (17) suggestions to improve Destiny

Back in June, I made some suggestions (https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/129049129). Several of them have been implemented by Bungie so far, but other issues have come up in the mean time. So here is an updated version. As before, many of these ideas are no doubt posted elsewhere and additional comments and suggestions are welcome, but please don’t use this post as a place to rant or vent. Please try to be constructive if you comment. Gear: (1) Weapon Parts - There have been many complaints about weapon parts on these boards. There are several things that could essentially minimize this issue, which effectively limits us from being more willing to try out new weapons. - Have the Gunsmith sell them. 200-250 glimmer each would be reasonable, I’d say (less would be better, of cours- . - Increase the number of green drops - it seems like you’ve significantly increased the number of blues and above (for which we are very grateful) , but greens could be used for instant parts. Alternatively, there could be a random chance to find parts in engrams we pick up. - Decrease the number needed to upgrade, particularly for infusion. 10 weapon parts when we will typically get 2-3 from breaking down a blue is problematic. - Increase the amount we get from dismantling gear - even increasing the base amount by 1 would probably negate this issue. (2) Ghosts - Thank you for adding them to the loot pool for Nightfalls. However, I still have yet to see a ghost that gives glimmer for killing Vex or Cabal; I also have not seen one that gives a chance at picking up helium, spirit bloom, or relic iron from engrams on those particular planets. The glimmer drops are especially troublesome because majors and ultras no longer give glimmer when killing them without an appropriate ghost or glimmer item equipped (https://youtu.be/WacysKO3co4) . There are three ideas I can think of right now that I think would improve this: - Have the faction vendors sell them. New Monarch could be Cabal/Mars, Dead Orbit could be (Hive/Fallen) /Moon, and Future War Cult could be Vex/Venus. - Add them to the the potential drop pool for Heroic strikes. The heroics could have a chance to drop a legendary ghost with perks that would be useful during that strike. The Nightfall could still have random perks. - Add Ghost engrams that could end up completely randominzing the perks. For instance, there could be blue ghosts that can give glimmer drops or give you materials when picking up engrams. (3) Move special orders - move gunsmith orders from our weapon inventory to the area where our faction allegiance and Iron Medallion medals are. As of now, they take up valuable inventory space doing nothing. Also, it discourages you from placing your orders before the last minute. This week, with 5 primaries, is a perfect example of why it would benefit from being moved. You still wouldn’t be able to collect them without adequate space, but you’d at least be able to do the rest of your activities during the week without your space being filled up. (4) Gear Set bonuses - I have two ideas for this: - I saw somewhere that there is a shader that unlocks when you have a full set of Harrowed raid gear. This is a great idea that should be expanded to other areas of the game. If you equip a full set of particular gear (i.e. the Bog Wild set) , you should unlock a shader that corresponds to that. - Another option would be to give a bonus for having a full gear set equipped. It could either be something like a 10-20% stat boost if you have the full set equipped or a bonus of 5 light per item you have equipped in a particular set. For instance, having 3 items in one set would mean that you would get a 15 light bonus to EACH piece in the set. - You could always consider adding a quest similar to the faction quests that unlocks by having the full gear set equipped. Make it so that completing it will get you the shader and an exotic class item or artifact (that takes up an exotic slot, so unlike the faction rewards in that regar- . Items that could be included in that quest: enemies killed while wearing the full set, heroic strikes completed, raid completed, crucible kills, crucible wins (could be wins in multiple types of crucible matches) . (5) Items - I have a couple of suggestions here: - Add a cooldown for 3 of Coins. There is a lot of confusion regarding this item, in particular in regards to where it says that they are stackable, especially since there is currently no cooldown period. Adding a soft cooldown that is equal to the amount of time required for the full benefit while still allowing you to use them successively if you wish would be beneficial to us. - Separate the synth cooldowns. Using a Special synth shouldn’t impact my ability to use a Heavy synth. - Add a visible cooldown timer on the HUD. This would also be nice for glimmer items, which could be limited to only showing up at a particular time, i.e when one of the cooldowns is up or, in the case of glimmer items, nearly up (such as the final minute or so) . (6) “Reputation Gain” perks - a 10% boost is absurd. You took away the Nightfall boost and replaced it with a minor potential boost to reputation based on whether you have a particular piece of gear equipped. It is nice to be able to increase our faction rep with motes of light, but increasing our other areas for reputation require a specific piece of leveled gear equipped, which means that we have to choose between leveling something new or getting that boost to the reputation gain. Since the Nightfall boost is gone, a 25% boost to reputation to replace the current 10% would be very nice to have. (7) Price inflation - this is less of an issue for now and more of a concern for future updates. Green weapons from the Gunsmith have significantly increased in cost from Vanilla to now. Prices at the Vanguard armory have gone up from 250 to 1500 glimmer - a six-fold increase to go along with the increase in the level of the gear (the 250 glimmer gear was a really good way of getting weapon parts, especially since it was so easy to upgrade it) . My concern is that, barring an increase in the value of the weapons, which are essentially useless to a high level player, the price will soon become so great that our current glimmer caps and the rate at which we gain glimmer will soon be insignificant (side note - thanks for adding glimmer to completion rewards) . ------ Interface/UI: (8) Make it easier to see what friends are in a particular activity - when I go to choose the Daily Story mission, it tells me how many of my friends are doing it. I then have to go to my friends list and select each person individually, wait a second or two for it to load, then inevitably back out because they’re doing something else. This process may need to be repeated 20-30 times or more. The game already knows how many of my friends are doing it, so why doesn’t it tell us? - On the launch page for an activity, it should tell us not only the total number of friends that are doing an activity, but it should also show us precisely which friends are doing that activity. Showing the emblems of our friends in that activity that have space for you and have their join settings set so that you can join them would be very helpful. When there are no open positions, having it state that on that page would also be nice to know. (9) Organize the roster - after 13 months of playing this game, I still have no idea how this thing is organized. - The simplest thing to do would be to alphabetize the list. Trying to find a particular friend is a bit difficult at times, especially since they don’t tend to remain in the same positions in my list. - Though this would be less necessary if suggestion 8 were to be implemented, having the roster organized by activity would be very nice. (10) Actual clan support - Outside of two trophies/achievements, you could skip being in a clan entirely and not really miss anything. There isn't really any benefit to being in one directly and, like with the grimoire (and matchmaking) , you have to go outside of the game to do anything. Instead, it would be nice to have a friends list on the roster page that was automatically populated with your clan members and that treated them as friends. Among other things, that would allow you to easily add them to your friends list, but it would also immediately give you access to playing with them as soon as you join. (11) In-game grimoire - Give us a terminal or something so that we don't have to go to an outside source to actually find out the lore of this game. From what I've heard, it is actually pretty deep, but I know that I wouldn't end up reading it on the website, but I might read it if I were in the game. You could even have the lore cards show up on the loading screens instead of the current "ship flying through space" screen that we have. Enough other games do it that way that it wouldn't seem out of place. - The grimoire could be organized topically in a new kiosk so that we can find all of the information in one place. Bonus points if it were also voice acted, kind of like what happened with the extra mission for Paradox the last couple of weeks. (To be continued)

 • PVE: (12) Special Quests - I have no issue with having time gated quests for things like Black Spindle. However, it would be nice if these limited events didn’t happen exclusively on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. You said you removed the Nightfall buff because it made people feel pressured to complete that every Tuesday, but then added other activities that are time gated to those days. - My suggestion on this is to weight these special events more heavily towards Friday-Sunday if you can. This would encourage additional participation, particularly among the population that is either in school or has a traditional day job. Allow for there still to be a chance for them to appear on other days, though for those people who are not on more traditional schedules. (13) Strike Rotation - in the Vanguard and Heroic Strike playlists, I have yet to see several of the older strikes. I understand that they weren’t updated with TTK, but by removing them from those playlists, you removed a great deal of variety, especially since there is still unique gear to be found in those strikes thanks to TTK. There are 5 strikes that I haven’t seen in the rotation that would make running those playlists have more variety. It would be nice to have the following strikes back in the rotation (without having to go to the legacy playlists or choosing them manually) : - Devil’s Lair - Summoning Pits - Nexus - Winter’s Run - Will of Crota (yes, even Omnigul) ------ PVP: (14) Map rotation - The last Iron Banner felt like we were running only a fraction of the maps in the game, with the priority on the House of Wolves and Taken King maps. I got all three of my characters up to rank 5, but it felt like there were a handful of maps that were showing up 90% of the time with the majority of them rarely showing up at all. More maps means more variety which makes it a more enjoyable experience in general. (15) Add all of the modes that are currently in as permanent options. If you are concerned that they wouldn’t be populated enough, run a test for a month or so to see if people will play them. (16) Dedicated servers (there has to be at least one pipe dream, right?) - Dedicated servers would help most in PVP (and reduce cheating) , but they'd also help with consistency in PVE. It would be expensive, but they'd help greatly. I saw something about Bungie potentially doing something regarding e-sports (could be a complete rumor) . Without dedicated servers, though, I don’t see how that would go over well. Additionally, making it so that one person’s connection can negatively impact someone else’s experience is problematic. ------ Other: (17) Statistics on the website - I'm not talking individual statistics, but rather general statistics for the population. They've been given out in limited quantities in the past and this would just be something interesting to see. To be fair, the heat maps that have been in the updates since Trials of Osiris is part of what I'm thinking of, but I'd like to see things like "Most popular weapons" for both PVE and PVP with a ranking of the top 10 of each category (primary, special, heavy) , both with and without exotics included (with percentage of use include- . It would also be nice to see things like how many accounts were active in a week or what the distribution of players is, both across platforms and as far as classes and levels go. This is a personal thing and I'd just be curious to see various trends. ------ As before, I like the game. I have put a ton of hours into it and likely will put a lot more into it over the next year (with a couple of exceptions - I’ll likely take some time out for Fallout 4 next month and Xenoblade Chronicles X in December) . I’m not trying to complain, but these are things that, in many cases, seem to be things that should be relatively easy to implement, but that could positively impact the game and make it into one of those games that could be considered a classic.
