Incremental DLC and Story

So, a lot of speculation is saying that Destiny's going over to incremental and probably free DLC. How's that gonna work for the story? Now, before you say "hur, hur. Destiny has no story," consider TTK. The story missions of it had a logical flow and progression. Weird beacon, Dreadnaught, get cloaking device to get on Dreadnaught, get on Dreadnaught, go deeper into Dreadnaught, etc. So, if we had a semi-logical story in TTK and, to a lesser extent, HoW, how will the story work with incremental DLC? How many story missions will we get at once? Will it be three rolled out at pence each month? A new mission each week? Either way, it seems like it won't be enough to tie us over between increments. It will hurt the ebb and flow of the story if we have to wait a week or a month between chapters/pages. Imagine hunting down Skolas but getting stopped for a month halfway through. That would suck, right? So, do we have any ideas of how this could work for Bungie? TL;DR: How will incremental DLC affect story missions?

  • If they get ahead of the curve, ensure that they are several quests ahead development-wise before releasing the first ones, then it might be fine. Release them in seasons perhaps as well? We get a lump of them to work through one month, then we get a space where other activities are promoted, e.g. Trials and Banner, and then we get another lump of content. I'm not sure how it will work, but it might just work like that. Who knows.

  • Honestly all the dlc has had good storylines. They were easy to follow and made sense leading to the raids. Ttk was much better because it included cutscenes on most missions and added the quest system which was a major improvement. From ttk on I think the story will only get better.
