Were you detecting an advantage attributed to your more powerful gear and weapons? Did the experience feel different than standard Crucible combat?

I found my first fight in the iron Banner to be quite fun. Since the rebalance of weapons that was included in 2.0, it appeared to me that actual prowess in combat appeared to matter more than a set "meta" for the IB. I am not a big Crucible player, but I enjoy it none the less. I found myself winning firefights against three to four people without the standard use of shotguns you would normally see, instead winning with strategic grenade placements and better aiming.
