It's stated right in the video that this happens practically all the time. I do not excuse Bungie for what they did, but they're playing the game. Marty wasn't exactly in the right either after E3, from what I remember reading he became highly insubordinate. He brought it up to official channels, fine, that's good. But he also apparently acted out on his frustration - that's pretty unprofessional too. Granted we know who the bigger douche here was, but all the blame can't be left with Bungie and Activision no matter how much we love/loved Marty. That being said, voice your opinion, just keep it to what we know and not throw in wild speculations on top of it. P.S. Publishers nearly always have some sort of control. It's ignorant to assume otherwise.

  • Gotta remember this was last minute and I sure as heck would be ticked if my life's work was dashed aside so quickly.

  • That's a fair point, but at the same time actions speak volumes for the next place you work. Not saying he'll have to work again after this, but I read that he literally dragged his feet after a while, making it harder for those who worked with/under him. That's a douche move in itself.

Well it was either fight for what he believed in or go belly up and just give in like the other lead artist that quit.

  • And that was honestly that should be seen as the thing to do. Bow out and move on.

  • You realize he finished all of his work ahead of schedule right? Bow out and leave would have meant he wouldn't have gotten paid for the work. Also does the words artistic freedom and Creative control have any meaning to you. Cause he had both and they still pulled this. So yeah he pulled a Hulk Hogan on them.
